@2nyl+1rTYAjjB I'm old(ish) and American. There are strong national cultural differences, but also, when it comes to hiring/firing/enduring incompetence its also a labor law thing (as in Germany has very strict ones... the US... not so much.) That said, SAP is particularly bad at this. They try (unsuccessfully) to walk that tightrope between the differing labor laws they have to manage with/through, and ultimately botch it up completely. In the past, they pulled off the band aid quick in the US leaving Europeans wondering for months when its their turn. Or, conversely, they have decided to announce something to make shareholders happy, then leaving everyone hanging for months, with limited follow up, seeming tone-deafness to the mood of the tired masses, and then, when everyone is utterly exhausted by the company leadership's collective incompetence, poorly executing on whatever they think passes for a strategy... but only in the US... again, leaving Europe to dangle. I will say this, from my experience, the current bunch have demonstrated how utterly abysmal they are at this sort of thing. So... its a national culture thing... its an SAP corporate culture thing... and its a leadership made up of muppets who are way in over their collective heads thing. You're new here. Sorry. I hope this all works out for you.

I'm newish to SAP and American.

I can't tell if it's an SAP culture thing or a German/US culture difference, but I really don't understand how decisions get made or communicated here. It seems as though communication, if it happens at all, occurs with an extraordinary lack of clarity followed by an inordinately long pause before details are revealed. Not just with the "restructuring" - RTO was like this also....

Calm the fu-k down, a--holes. I'm in the US and I didn't take the VERP offer. So, NO, every single American offered VERP did NOT take it. Fact.

Oh.. and @1igj+1rTYAjjB. Another pro tip. The only thing ANY employer owes you is a day’s pay for day”s work. Good luck

@1igj+1rTYAjjB Well done. You’re clearly too clever to have the wool pulled over your eyes. You clearly must be one of the candidates in one of SAP’s leadership development programs. Pro tip: get to breakfast at Cloud44 early, before all of the pretzel bread is gone. Good luck in your career.

Every single American offered the VERP took it, so the Germans get bailed out by the Americans yet again.

False.

Announcement on the 15th. No impact in Germany at all. Every single American offered the VERP took it, so the Germans get bailed out by the Americans yet again.

I'm honestly tired of hearing about Germany. US employees have targets on their backs because they're "expensive" when German employees are just as expensive, including all of their ridiculous perks. Yet, while US employees worry about layoffs, Germans whine about RTO. Any American would ki-l for a nice safe little role in Germany... take a look in outlook, look in the "VERP" cost center... all of those old dinosaurs who took packages years ago and are still su-king the company's profits dry. Want to really save some cold hard Deutsche Marks SAP? Cut all of those old German cretins loose... As long as they sit there, collecting their endless retirement packages, good workers with real solid work ethics from "employment at will" countries will feel the pain. Ever wonder why SAP pushes back so hard on becoming an "American company"? its because its leadership wouldn't last a second in an American company.

So when this is finally decided in Germany, the numbers will come through too late to affect the 8K total in HC reduction…It’ll be an added bonus for the “Executioner Board”.
