Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

More RIFS

More layoffs will occur for remote employees in the next month. Sapience has been put on their machines to justify this action. The company is pouring so much easy money that they know it is time to buckle up and get the debt burden to a minimum. Certain jobs will be eliminated and other roles will have to pull the weight. If you are part of CCO start looking if you haven’t already. Reorganization is still occurring.

They said at the time it was "performance related".... which I called BS on. Not by coincidence, I had just ripped Frank in my annual survey for his war against remote employees. When the time came for my separation, they curiously changed the reason to "COVID related layoff". "

As I recall, if someone was laid off during COVID, it was possible to get government "bonus" pay when collecting unemployment. While you were let go, I see this as a nicer way of doing it. Luckily, you found another job that pays better and things worked out in the end.

Oh well, I'm making 40K more a year now. I took a pay cut to work for Fiserv, so I was already underpaid.

I'm so glad I left. Making 30K more with hybrid, very flexible work schedule...no more big brother mentality, great work/life balance and leadership respects & celebrates employees. The job market is tough and I feel for all of you who wish to leave. Hang in there and know that you will find something eventually!

There is no future here…put your time in while you job search! They should drop the demand that you put your goals in…WTH…little to no increase but you commit to what you can do for us… get out of here!

I am making a pitiful amount of money. They expect more for less. What kind of place is this? What is Sapience being used for? Any recommendations for better companies? Square? Toast? Other suggestions?

If you work remote, you are eligible to be laid off, period. He does NOT believe in remote workers and has made this perfectly clear. Many of our colleagues have been let go simply because they could not go into an office - not because they didn't work enough hours or weren't productive. As a matter of fact, most of them were highly productive, highly valuable, SMEs. It didn't/doesn't matter! They were let go just because they worked from home.
If you are a remote worker, you may not have been targeted yet, but you will be. Sapience has nothing to do with it - so don't work extra hours and think you will be spared. Your organization may have been sheltered from this fact and there may be groups or job titles that will be exempt, but eventually it will catch up to most remote workers.

Sapience has been around for at least 2 years, but it was recently upgraded, and the reporting is much more sophisticated and easier to review. They will start using this to target in office (and maybe some remote workers) for layoff. They may even use it to monitor Friday at home activity and if the production drops, be clear, Fridays will become in office days.
Have a great weekend!

It’s not just remotes. In-office staff getting this on their computers too.

I wish they WOULD RIF me! I'm leaving soon anyways and a RIF would be a gift. Worked here for more years than I care to mention and have seen this great company go to "SHEET" under this new 'regime'. Downtown Milwaukee location is the worst Fiserv location of the 3 I have been assigned to. Good Luck to those who stay.

Leadership is either ignorant, arrogant or quite possibly both.

The staffing issue raised is real. Our team has dwindled and there is very little support. The amount of tasks is over the top and no one seems to know what they are doing. It seems like the executive leadership is acting carefree. It makes you wonder what is really going on. Maybe another acquisition is in the works or they just don’t care about quality work happening.

Staffing is a joke... I'll say this to all the project managers, all of your tasks are doomed to fail. Many groups need 5 or 10 times the people that they have. 20 lbs of work, 2 lb bag.... good luck!

Meanwhile, we still don’t have all the necessary software and computers to do our jobs. Lets not forget how antiquated and awful our network system truly is.

You can’t cut your way to 27 billion dollars. The debt isn’t going anywhere. It’s all in bonds that will eventually come due.

I’ve read all these comments and everyone seems accurate. I don’t believe anything Rob says to us. He just had part of his team disjointed and is scrutinizing every angle of what we do. I am afraid. I’m not sure if anything can be done. I’m tired of the fake bullsh-t from management. This company only cares about sc--wing the he-l out of everyone and pi----g off customers.

Most managers are drinking Kool Aid. A lot of them have been around for years and are on the verge of retirement.

You can't trust what any manager says at Fiserv. It is not that they are untrustworthy, it is that Frank is so terrible at internal communication that they will be completely unaware of what the plan actually is.

Or, Frank doesn't tell anyone what he is planning to do.

Both possibilities are what a terrible leader would do.

They want to see that you are glued to your computer and are working on your assigned tasks. Since most of us are remote they don’t trust us. This will give more reason to get rid of remote staff.

There has been for a good while and there continues to be an endless series of changes on almost every front that negatively affect the ability of associates to do their work efficiently and effectively.

Concomitantly, the work experience itself is constanty being degraded and worsened (think work/life balance, stress levels, systemic orgaizational dysfunction, etc.).

This through any number of mechanisms, from RTO to survellance, tracking, and monitoring; pathetic remuneration, merit increases, 401k and stock “benefits”; 24/7 gaslighting; constant exhortations to do more with less (while doing more and getting less!); not backfilling key positions, and on and on.

For the person who posted for the record, you are incorrect. Not all employees had Sapience installed on their machines until the last few weeks. What’s disturbing is how these clowns are putting it on salaried remote staff computers expecting that a salaried employee should be on their computer 8 hours a day. I’ve been with this company for an extremely long time and for upper management to do this now is very troubling. The US is broke and so is Fiserv. It won’t matter now since we are entering World War 3. If they try to eliminate me I won’t go down easily.

For the record, Sapience has been on employees computers for well over a year or two now. Layoffs have been happening in full force for the past 3 years now, mostly for remote employees. Best advice is to always be prepared. Connect/network on LinkedIn, have your resume up to date.

With the possible exception of the Sapience component, it seems like these actions have been going on in most if not all orgs, for what, the last year? The last two years? Even longer?

Remember if you are in a special category (inc. over 40) and they fire you over Sapience - find a lawyer and sue! Do you really think that they want to go to the mat with as many problems as Sapience has?

Fiserv: "Well, we show you as inactive for an hour"
Associate: "I was on a phone call with a client"
Fiserv: "Uhhhhhh..., yeah but you were inactive... uhhhh"

What is CCO? This has been going on in other areas of Fiserv for a while now. Not Sapience driven, just location driven, although I agree Sapience will now be used to eliminate even more resources....

To the OP, your post was perfect timing. I’ve been a long standing employee for many years. I was OFD and know how Frank and his crew operate. I heard Rob and Jerry were not going to do anything soon, but I don’t trust them at all. They don’t have any confidence in the managers so they are using Sapience to determine if we are working. I’m afraid a lot of us will be let go. It was nice working with you as I made nice relationships over the many years.
