AMN Healthcare at it again - 4/3/24 Layoffs

Well here we are again!
Ever since Susan departed for retirement leaving Cary Grace as the President & CEO things have taken a very bleak turn.

Today Dallas office employees may have noticed an increase of security to the building this morning as AMN has their leaders meeting to layoff over 30% of their workforce.

This is not specific to 1 department over the other this time. Rumor is that at least 5 supervisor or above roles will also be letgo today.

AMN recently announced their postponement of transition primarily to offshore for 4/1 to 6/1 for credentialing process with Radiant as they weren't quite ready for the over taking of what we do. As we all know these transitions come with some serious collateral damage.

All those laid off will receive an email to their personal email box with a DocuSign to complete. They will also be contacted by a HR representative with their specific severance package information in the next coming days.

When AMN announced their inclusivity & DEI initiatives & how important OneAMN is now more than ever was the eye opener for many people.

Terin (credentialing director) was in a meeting recently scolding the entire department telling them "You don't need to be in the know for all the changes. Nor is it your right to be." As she boasts about transparency & honesty. Then she tells everyone to stay in their lane when people were fearful for their jobs & how it'll impact their livelihoods.

What was once a great company is no longer. They are hanging on by a thread.

Another layoff must be approaching at AMN helathcare. After the layoffs in April the VP, JB, said he would be meeting with everyone in RPO for a 1on1. My original 1:1 was schedule for early June. From June to last week he rescheduled our 1:1 7 times. But anyways my manager randomly added a teams call to my calendar last week and I already knew what it was about. I hopped on and HR is on and they announced that “the client requested me off the team due to low performance ”. Before the April layoffs I was on another team and my whole team was laid off leaving only me. I was a top performer and was even invited to the president forum trip 2 times. Once they moved me to a new team I somehow became a “low performer”. But ohhh well my director was a huge micromanager and a b*itch. The whole team hated her. This is somewhat bittersweet to me. I’m lower glad I barely had any upcoming placements bc image doing all that work just to not get credit. RPO is struggling. We had 190 recruiters before the April layoffs and they are down to less than 60. Clients are ending contracts and no new business is coming. I also saw that they were hiring recruiters for a way lower base pay. LOL.

They built that multi million dollar facility that barely anyone ever goes into, but let’s lay people off in this terrible economy to struggle to live. Terrible financial decisions. The CEO should be fired. Being Susan back!

I just saw an AMN post on LinkedIn. They are hiring, "multiple recruiters," for language services. The only required skill is prior recruitment experience. So... hundred got laid off just to hire new recruiters?

I overheard Paulette Arnest’s days are sealed… from the board to the C suite NO ONE is happy with her performance. Rumor on the streets is that a huge client is about to walk due to her “expired vision” of their MSP program, as well as her detached reality of her roll and market trends. She’s in for a surprise, but also will be taking down a few others with her. Time will tell…

This company is laying off people left and right. My boss is a micro manager to the core and is trying to push me out to refill the role with someone who can do it cheaper and faster. He gave me a PIP after I complained to HR. HR in this company su-ks too. Sooo many unlawful and unethical things going on here it is just a matter of time until it goes bankrupt or something. They are performing so badly but CEO is still blaming COVID - complete denial. The culture is TRASH. Leaders are untrustworthy and will not support you.

Look at some of the peeps that Cary Grace brought on as Chiefs (positions that she created or to fill for people that she pushed out). One person she brought on is from McKinsey, a consulting firm that specialized in reorganizing companies by downsizing them to reduce costs. Our department heard how "supportive" CG was of us, next thing we know, many of us were let go a week before Thanksgiving. And no rhyme or reason as to who was let go. Most of us had been with AMN for more than 3 years (7 years total myself). Some for 10 years plus, while those with 1 year or LESS were not affected.

As far as Radiant, they are the most incompetent group. When they first took over, we saw so many issues with credentialing. Our clients continually brought concerns (expired BLS and License after the CLN had started) to us and we personally found issues that we took to leadership that seemed to fall on deaf ears. Not sure The Joint Commission would be happy with how Radiant handles the credentialing process, either.

Someone asked about the non-compete... Please check with your state. A non-compete is not upheld in some states (ie California). In CA, a non-compete is basically void, even if you signed it so check your state's laws and how it applies, especially in the case of being laid off. I find it hard to believe they would fight it as it would stop you from finding employment.

Lastly, I would love to hear if anyone starts a private group or seeks legal action against AMN. Good luck to you all!!

It’s been one week since I was laid off for no reason. I found out that I was replaced by somebody from another team who wasn’t laid off. Why? No idea. That person will sit back and collect the commission that I earned and will never receive. That person also has job security for the time being because the next lay off won’t be for a few months. I have no health insurance. I have to pay out of pocket for medications that I couldn’t renew until next week and no money coming in to pay for them. Thanks Cary for destroying what I was doing. Don't tell me that you value RPO and all of our efforts because it’s obvious we were just in your way. I hope they fire your a-s. You’ll see what it feels like

I’m not so sure they can legally cut off benefits like they did. Looking into what was done and will post my findings as I get updates. Employers do not pay benefits for the group plans weekly so, did the shady management team cut us off before the April bill was due? How do you keep EAP benefits through the end of the month and cut off major medical in 2 days. Let’s not forget the lack of coordination to enroll in Cobra. Been told it could take 14 business days to be covered and since it is retroactive, any medical needs must be paid out of pocket then reimbursed. Where is the dignity in any of these decisions? Karma requires pain and retribution to the minds and hands that created this transition. I sure plan to dig into all of this. If anyone else has any info, please respond initially until we take this to a more private forum.

Waiting for them to start coming for the backend departments. They overpromise clients on the AR/AP processes, have made no updated to billing technologies and are looking contracts simply due to competitors offering better billing options. There are so many one-off processes that are not documented with 1 person aware of the process. If they layoff random BAR employees and it will start impacting revenue recognition. The rollout of a new AP tech with no time studies, no assessment of work volume and impact to productivity and workload. At this point, some of us are ready to be laidoff. The culture, moral, and leadership has sank to all time low. We used to have upper to mid level leadership who would deep dive to understand the inner workings and at least make an effort to understand the issues and help streamline processes. Now the entire companies attitude is, here are your sh---y tools, we know They are cr-p and don't care, you will Now have metrics to meet even though the technology is the problem. Fu-k the CEO and her minions. The company financial outlook may have been the same under Susan, but the rollout and delivery of information snd layoffs would have been drastically different and actually show compassion.

Cary and Terin are a disgrace. AMN was great 2 years ago and in less than a year the company lost over 50% of their revenue. Terin is a nasty B thinks she's better than everyone and doesn't do sh*t for her 6 figure income. In the last credentialing meeting she stated "I have enough problems I don't need anymore". I'm sorry but she wasn't the one worried about her job WE were and now over half are gone again. 1 wk severance pay per year of employment is total BS. AMN will crash and burn come June when Radiant is to take over Credentialing 100%. They can't do the job correctly now and the remaining CAs will become auditors checking the work of the replacements. Glad to be out just wish it was on MY terms.

Cary no Grace needs to be removed by the Board of Directors due to the treatment we as employees have received. We have been treated like an afterthough,, our accounts that we worked so hard on are now left hanging aa our personal reputations dragged through the mud. As recruiters our names are associated with the candidates we serve as well as the hospital teams we helped staff. All this work, no paid overtime, no PTO pay out and 48 hours left on our health insurance. If we want to collect our “severance” we are forced to sign a document stating we will not sue. I’ve already called an employment attorney who confirmed what AMN is doing is illegal. Get ready people!

For those who were on FMLA or had FMLA status and feel that you were discriminated against please know this is protected by the EEOC and your signing your severance does not disqualify you in filing a claim. There are several of us who had FMLA status and it appears there is a valid concern that AMN leadership is targeting those who had FMLA.

Meeting after meeting we were told my departments work load was strong in locums. My audit scores were 100% each month except twice, at 97%. I was told I held one of the highest work loads, was on one of our biggest clients, no record of reprimands, and just took on a new branch for the client. Yet I was called into a meeting with, none of my leadership present, 24 other employees and given the “we are sorry, effective immediately, you are no longer employed” speech in under 5 minutes.

We were told there was no criteria as to “why us”, just that our position was eliminated….. yet my position is the same as the others on my team. Only difference at the moment was my work load is low from intermittent FMLA. When HR called me later, she was unable to answer any of my questions but had straight answers from legal that my state allows me to be “let go” while on FMLA, I will not receive my PTO hours paid out at all (I have over 80), and the bonus given to us by Susan in our 401ks would be taken back, insurance cancelled by Friday (72 hours). I asked for my FMLA records and was told no. I also requested for my leadership to be made aware of what I was working on so it would not impact the providers or client… the response was there is no need to worry about it. The team I was apart of within this company was amazing, truly held the AMN values that Susan lead by. I was in an accident recently where I was lucky to be alive and my first reach out was to my supervisor. My team supported each other in always inside work and out of it. AMN was the place I planned to stay until retirement. The company as a whole is not bad, just bad management currently.

Quartery 4 results are posted in AMN website.you know layoffs were going go down. It was to be expected. The plot twist ive been seeing, hearing once layoffs happen for those impacted. They will start announcing undeserving promotions in LinkedIn for corrupted short term employees as leaders. So basically that person who got promotion on Linken took your salary and the employee now jobless. Its a snake in AMN somebody wants all the money power, what better way allocate money and save for investors than layoffs. So all layoffs salary will.eventually go to higher power up waiting for thier promotion in AMN. True story from layoffs

I used to work for AMN for 5 years before I jumped ship. It used to be a great company and the leadership team that Susan had actually cared about the employees. So many initiatives were launched and amazing bonuses were given just because. I was a recruiter and I knew it was going to eventually tank the moment they announced Susan was retiring. I immediately warned all my colleagues that we needed to abandon ship (at least transfer divisions) because as it was, my division was the “eye sore” one. Basically anyone who worked my division were heavily sided eyed by others and as a matter of fact I was once racially discriminated against by a HR Recruiter who called me too “urban” when I tried to apply for a higher position. Anyways I somehow was able to switch to a different team but I had to accept a massive demotion which was fine because I was trying to be strategic and hide my time. However when they had announced the new CEO came from the banking and finance industry I knew it was over. All she cares about are the shareholders let’s be honest. It’s disheartening to see this happening but I’m glad I was able to leave before they even started the first of 3 layoffs so far.

Where to begin? I was with AMN for over 2 years supporting their RPO and ROD service line. I had never been apart of a company down sizing until November of 2023. My mom passed away on Tuesday and by Wednesday the company was spontaneously laying off employees. I got a call from someone who was let go asking if I still had my job. Right after my mom died… like WHAT?! Could you imagine how incredibly stressful that week and the following weeks were?
My leader didn’t take a single step towards assisting the team in covering anyone’s desk during their holiday PTO plans and guess who got stuck covering for not one, not two but three of her team mates desks? That’s right ME! Only 4 weeks after my mom’s passing, no time off, not a single call from HR to check in, nothing for my manager. NOTHING.

Come February, there was another lay off, guess who was included? ME AGAIN!
My manager Taryn Coates randomly called to share that I was being let go, on the line a random HR lady who decided that I wasn’t allowed to respond or to ask for a Leadership member to be included. Nope just, thanks and good bye!

2 years down the drain just like that!
Oh and GUESS WHAT all the money you put into your 401k hoping AMN would match it like they share they will, they didn’t! Gone was my “cushion” . Shooot AMN took it a step further and took out what they considered to be a “vested amount” on their end too!

So my mom dies, they do a lay off, my role becomes even more burdened, no remorse from the company of course, no time off during the holidays due to poorly planned and approved management on leaderships end of the schedule and then I get laid off 6 weeks later with out any notice OR a severance.

Susan , the company is TRASH since you left, where did you go? Did they push you out? I miss you!

Who ever bought out AMN and is “restructuring” will find soon that your business is no longer desirable by the public. Service lines tanked once Keith Bradley was let go and your CDMs are trash. Their client satisfaction ratings are awful - and IDK who voted AMN as “best place to work for inclusivity and diversity” but they were way off!

You can’t grow here, no one is kind enough to recommend you or complete a mentorship. The ERGs boast about this and that but in reality, you join and then there’s nothing else. You just joined a Microsoft teams chat group 😅

Clients, look away! Candidates, turn away! AMN is just NOT the same company it was 2 years ago, get out!! I’m dating unemployment, YOU should too!

Look, this was coming like a freight train. Cary Grace hired a corporate ki-ler from HCA to lead credentialing operations. That was the most ominous sign about where the company was headed.

Don't get me wrong -- it is nothing short of astonishing to watch a multimillion dollar company be driven into the shi++er in about 365 days. The first time we heard all of the corporate mumbo jumbo coming from CG, the clock started ticking on our jobs.

Soon AMN will be just the average "global" company with mediocre offerings that sound just like every other mediocre vendor. Anyone with a browser can find information about Radiant and their mission to help healthcare companies make money by sending jobs to Bangladesh. It's right there on the company website. We knew from day one we were training our replacements, right?

Nothing like being let go in a teams call with 26 other people in there. No respect. No questions answered. Terin gave us some ridiculous speech about how they’ve talked about decreased revenue over the last year and our jobs were impacted. Like seriously, impacted? How bout NO, you are firing us with NO CAUSE and some of your top producing Credentialing Analyst. Good luck with your barely English speaking CA’s now. Nurses already frustrated with trying to understand them. They don’t even have the desk space to house all the employees remaining but want to force returning to the office 1-2 days a week. Literally, we went back into the office yesterday and fired today. Waiting to hear what my severance package will be but not having any high hopes!

I am very saddened to hear this. I was let go the day after my birthday on Feb 28th. I didn't receive a Severance package whatsoever. They pipp'd me out among many others unfortunately. I guess pipping you out was a way for them not to pay severance. I was first given a 60 day PiP when I came back from PTO, and a week later, I was moved to a 14 day PiP. The following week came by, and I was let go on that Wednesday the 28th. I didn't even get the opportunity to Pip Out, because what I had on my desk would've extended my PiP. I would've loved to have gotten a severance package at least, I guess they didn't take into accountability my wife and kids that depend on my support. I am sending everyone positive vibes, and good thoughts. I am so sorry on how many of my former friends this has affected.

I've been recruiter of the quarter several times, a part AMP and more and I got let go when I've been maxed on paid time off, never took any time off and went absolutely above and beyond. The fact they called us all into a virtual meeting and notified us we were being laid off by the fakes HR I've ever heard, just reinforces the fact not to put in everything to your work, they don't care, they never did. This new CEO has taken everything that was great about AMN and ran it into the ground.

It gets worse. They layoff employees and leave the leaders that are responsible for this mess in the first place. Their biggest division is in crisis and the leaders left will make it worse. No diversity. If you’re not a middle age white woman you cannot survive this culture. I anticipate the stock to tank further.
