Are you exiting the banking industry going back to school or retiring etc.? I’m hoping the job market is a bit better in 2025 but have started looking.

.... the grad school program of my choice
Which program? Share please. Many of our international students need a good grad school program to work in US.
@2lgx+1rG8g0Ic. What?
Need to go back for a post-bacc so that I can get into the grad school program of my choice and never work in banking again. Was planning to do this while working, but working for Wells Fargo has become so unbearable that it motivated me to save $100k+ so that I can (hopefully) find the confidence to just quit next month or May and go back full time (however stupid that may be).
@2shq+1rG8g0Ic I knew you were describing the tech program before you even said it. Biggest joke of an entry-level career program that this company runs. Too bad you couldn't trade places with the "women in tech" hired into that program through "Grace Hopper" and "Girls Who Code" who were led to believe that they would be coding and instead are working dead-end Excel/data-entry/legacy reporting software roles lol.
And how funny, I've heard that very "you should be thankful" phrase from at least one of the six mangers I've cycled through in the little time I've been here before too lol.
There are lots of open positions in risk and controls. Please do apply. It is a rare chance in Wells Fargo right now to be able to join the best risk professionals in the country. It is an opportunity that promises not just growth, but a journey of continuous learning, achievement, and, above all, making a profound impact on the very fabric of space time continuum. It is really a golden ticket to the frontlines of the corporate world, where risk isn't just managed; it's mastered. This is not merely a role; it's the role for those who dare to dream big. You'll be more than just a guardian of stability; you'll be a visionary, crafting the shield that protects and propels our business forward. Imagine a role where every day brings new challenges, where your decisions not only safeguard but also steer the course of our company towards uncharted successes. Join now we need you.
new grad here, worked in banking for a year, used that money to invest in a grad degree exiting the fu-k from banking, there are jobs/roles that are interesting that also pay you well. Software dev work isn't the move. Also, to the senior manager on MINERVA that tried giving a whole I want you to be on this team for 2 years just coding and nothing else and being unprofessional about it, just because you love coding doesn't mean everyone else and also be honest what role you are hiring an individual from the get go, don't tell someone 3 months into a tech program that is what what they are going to do because you want to meet quotas. If that person indicated that they have interests in other than swe work interviews, do not onboard them for that role and then act all "you should be thankful".
Looking forward to the 52 weeks of severance from HY, then heading off to see the world.
Start next month at Ally Bank. I'm not in tech so the job hunting experience was different from most of what I read here. Not much activity while still employed but very different once I was severed last month. Was able to attend an industry conference on my own dime which led to the offer from Ally. I'm still in the 60 day window so still a WF team member but that will change April 6th. Blasting out your resume on electronic job sites is not the answer. Us your contacts and buy a lot of coffee and lunches.
Contemplating retirement. I meet the definition according to the company. Thinking of doing some consulting work after my notice period (I have RSRs).
Retirement is the next step for me. Just waiting for this POS Shart to pay me to leave. Where's my cut of the $1B Shart? Start writing checks.
It was harder finding a job while I was there. Lots of places look down on Wells and doors flew open when it was over.
If I get the axe I'll semi-retire. Probably start my own business-- content creation, tutorials, home services, something. I'm kind of over the whole grind of corporate live after living it for decades.
Challenge will be health insurance. Wells Health insurance is obscenely expensive for retirees. f*king bu11sht
Start networking now because once 70% of your peers are in India it’s going to be a cluster %%*. Who wants to stick around just to be overworked.
Realizing this place is a total bad show so doing everything I can think figure out where to go next.
I might start a business because I’m smart. I can’t do this place anymore, it makes you feel like you’re not smart!
Go get your dreams, for real!

Starting my own business.
As a full time remote tech worker, I stayed to get my 401K distribution and then retired. I am now enjoying umbrella drinks and reading entertaining books.

Back into FinTech. More focused, more into microservices (which for WF is only in India labeled "Wells Fargo Gateway", and AI. I am now making 40% more and not rehashing apps. If you are in tech and not involved in WFG or actively moving to WFG you are wasting your time. (https://developer.wellsfargo.com/products/payments-and-transfers)
I want to exit banking but do not want to invest in anymore degrees.
The trick isn’t applying for jobs but getting someone on the inside to give your resume to a hiring manager. This is true for most industries these days. So where do you know people on the inside?
Going back to school and moving on from banking.
