Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Internal application etiquette

Hello. Was wondering if anyone has ever reached out to the recruiter for internal postings to follow up. I posted for a position about 3 weeks ago with no update and I’m not sure if following up is out of bounds so to speak. Thanks in advance

Etiquette? At Wells Fargo? You make me laugh.

Bei Ling has not fixed the fake interview scandal yet.

But I thought Bei Ling told us all that she was going to fix the recruiting process after the fake interview scandal made news like a year and a half ago!

  • Right now Hr is overwhelmed with staff cuts and insane number of applicants following the location strategy. I doubt the HR recruiters even have enough time to eat, let’s alone use the bathroom.

Go & start a side gig until they get back to you. With any luck by the time they respond, you can move over to your side gig full-time & be done with this place.

The word "etiquette" does not apply at Wells Fargo. The leadership at this company has been morally bankrupt for a couple of decades, they don't deserve any respect from anybody.

Just apply outside the bank.

These sc-m managers will try to make it seem like you're not performing well enough to trap you. Managers here are lackluster. In other organizations it is way better.

My transfer took 6 months! I interviewed, got the job then had to tell me boss. Then my boss won’t do the transfer because he would have to find a replacement. But it wasn’t just the work, he had to justify why he needed a replacement. Director’s got involved and 6 months later I moved.

It’s always the hiring manager. It took over 60 days on average for the hiring managers to post a role once it was approved. And boy did they complain about not have enough people - typical duuumb WF stuff.

Etiquette? That's something WF sc-mbag managers don't deserve.

I've reached out the the recruiter AND the hiring managers before. It can't hurt. The recruiter can drag their feet on stuff b/c they might have a bunch of roles to fill.

I've reached out to the hiring manager when I apply too so they know to look for the resume and give the (often) dipsh-t recruiter a heads up to pass the app thru vs. just rejecting it b/c they don't know sh*t about tech or the role or that you've actually done the job before.

A while ago I applied for roles where I had actually done the job/been in that role and just got flat out rejected. I'm like WTF dude, I've done that work for many years.

Send a note to the hiring manager like: "Hey I just applied for the lead analytical consultant position, is this still open". Something like that to make them reply and look for your resume.

@1znx+1rEn0K0D, you are correct. The Philippines is the administrative hub while India is the technology hub. Hudson Yards is the executive suite / command center. All the rest in the United States are disposable.

Resumes are reviewed by recruiters in the Philippines and they rank/recommend who the US recruiters phone screen. US recruiters don’t look at the resumes anymore. It’s a joke.

I waited 6 months to hear about a role in communications. They kept on adding additional exercises. It was an absolute joke. Go and apply at a better company for a fair chance. If you are good at your job & you are internal, chances are you'll get dinged by your manager as they are vindictive & like to do that to innocent people not in their inner circle.

A lot of the recruiters were displaced. So there aren’t very many left.

No point, they won't tell you anything useful and it can't possibly help your changes. Don't do it.

Here is the general rule. As they play their games, you should play your games too. As they disrespect you, you have no reason to respect them either.

But why don't you apply to a better company instead of getting stuck in this cesspool?

Recruiter here:

95% of the time it’s the hiring managers that cause the lags and delays. Recruiters want to fill positions as quickly as possible, and “time to fill” is one of their KPIs.

@ssq+1rEn0K0D

This is sadly true. I know someone who got hired last year and was basically told they were given the position even though the hiring manager still had to get through more interviews. Candidates are being given interviews to "hit a quota" or act like Wells is giving people a fair chance, but really you need to know someone to move internally in most cases.

I applied for a role 4 weeks ago, and just got a request for an interview Monday. I would take into consideration the hiring manager and recruiters schedule.

My team is also hiring, and once the role posted the hiring manager was in India for 2 weeks and then took time off before the 3/15 cutoff last week and she was in RCSA this week. We def need people and do not have anyone preselected.

In many/most cases the hiring manager has already selected the person they want prior to posting the position.... the advertisement of the position is just an HR formality...

I see no harm in asking. That's part of the recruiter's role. Actually you should be following up and should be part of your process.

Yes and in a lot of cases they don't respond but reject you shortly after. If you do not hear within 2-3 weeks you are probably not on their short list. I find it really annoying they sit on applications so long, especially since the system limits you at 5 applications now. Someone should be able to tell if you are a fit or not within a week or 2 max. There are also situations where the hiring manager knows who they want already. If your not a fit or they have a friend in mind, at least do the service of rejecting candidates quickly.

That means u are not selected. Move on. They will reject u once they give the offer to selected.
