Enbridge urges shareholders to reject climate resolutions at upcoming AGM

"You're all just a bunch of patriarchal old white men complaining to mom that the life isn't fair."
Well, I hate to be the contrarian (that's a lie - I don't mind it)... but when you "stick it to the old white guys" there is one side that loses out... and it's not the old white guys. It's you. The old white guys will be fine.
Be an activist investor. That's fine. There are plenty of opportunities to do so. But as for "your world to inherit" - well, by declaring yourself the new keeper of the rules, and that's just too bad for the establishment, you'll probably ensure that you don't inherit anything.
The same basic rules will probably apply well past our lifetimes. Do good work, be valuable, and usually succeed. Work is not an inconvenience - it's how you subsist. And doing the work of professionals is how you delegate the labour of food, shelter, and clothing to somebody else. "You gotta serve somebody!" - Bob Dylan
People who do exactly what they are told for the minimum amount of time required are useful for exactly that one thing, and (since they're behaving like a commodity) the moment a company can get that thing cheaper, they absolutely should do so.
If you insist on treating the job in a purely transactional manner, you lose the right to complain when the company does the same.
When you can't afford to have a roof over your head or eat, the 'climate emergency' takes a back seat.
I applaud this action by the group. It is preparing our company for what is coming.
Milennials and GenZ aren't playing by the same rules the incumbent white old boomers are expecting everyone to ..... because it's their world to inherit. Not the rich old white guys.
sorry for anyone who works in this company.
Milennials and Genz have no issue with activist investing, and using their own limited funds to stick it to the old white guys. Same with we-ponizing social media against companies.
You're all just a bunch of patriarchal old white men complaining to mom that the life isn't fair.
grow up leaders - and i use that term lightly
To the question how many shares do you need to own to out in a proposal - one, the answer is one.
To the poster who thinks the evp shouldn’t weigh in on this - they aren’t. The board is, and they wouldn’t be doing their duty if they didn’t. And they should absolutely be recommending shareholders vote against. Please leave the company if you think either of these should pass and go work somewhere else,
I guess the question is what value that they have espoused do you think they're violating?
I don't see it, myself.
I wonder how many shares I have to own at the minimum to bring forward proposals.
Then EVPs should not do this. This is manipulation of shareholders.
If it really is that bad of an idea then let shareholders decide themselves.
We all know long term viability of humanity is not aligned to current capitalist goals of profit.
Besides climate change is a joke. No is taking it seriously whether we need to or not.
We couldn’t save our future to save our lives.
Irresponsible and dangerous of leadership to weigh in on this - and essentially breaks the trust of management and shareholders.
There’s not a company in the world that would recommend its shareholders accept a proposal like that. This is not a serious shareholder proposal, it’s made by someone who owns 60 shares and wants to see the absolute demise of Enbridge.
Is it possible that Enbridge is trying to embarrass its employees on the world stage?
