Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Impact to SEC?

Any folks from SEC know anything? There’s about how many in that program 1k or so? Where does this function even land? Part of GT? Enabling function?

I work in SEC. It’s impossible to actually do the proper testing. Everything MUST get pushed through as passing, no matter what. You can’t raise flags. Anything you try to bring up as failing is immediately dismissed and you’re asked to test again. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, but at no point do you have a firm grasp of why.

I’m not saying SEC’s task is easy. It isn’t. But they aren’t taking testing rigor seriously. They think by making people work 16 hours a day, 6-7 days a week, that that will solve for it.

But if every testing scenario randomly passes or randomly fails, you can’t get better over time. Working 5 hours a week or working 100 hours a week will yield the same result.

@1izf+1r9hw6wj Like magic? How about like competent professionals that have actually implemented a program this size rather than having it led by people who have always hid behind the people leading the teams doing the work.

Sad to hear your incompetence had caught up to you. Yep, it’s hard and difficult and complex. Yet here you are having shed all the folks who can help navigate you through this debacle. You reap what you sow and know you own it.

Obviously , the bunch here should have been running SEC and maybe you would have unleashed your superpowers to make it happen like magic. Have you worked on any ERP implementation before for a supply chain the size of Nike before ? Don’t blame SEC team now for the failures of past leadership in lifting it off the ground and sinking in millions of dollars .

SEC successful??? Hahahahahahaha!!! You must not be aware of the insane precautions happening in the geos because literally none of them believe it’ll work.

SEC is an illusion. It enables nothing. None of the must have capabilities will be used.

Nike’s systems are not good, but SEC is a money pit that doesn’t solve for root causes. Just a glossy veneer with hundreds of people in a different time zone bandaiding it one error at a time.

SEC is the only successful program in last 4 years. REGARDLESS , wishing bad for others you don’t know is despicable.

I got a FB memory the other day that was 10 yrs ago a trip to Germany to meet with SAP for SEC. I am not and haven’t been on the project just invited as a SME. 10 yr project and still not finished. Hmmm.

SEC/SEC+ are listed as #1 priority on Q4 goals, and on the launchpad for NA. Otherwise it’s unsupported SAP/AFS which is not sustainable or wise. If the wheels fell off your car you might not want to invest in a new one but what choice do you really have? You still have to get somewhere

Considering how much over budget and inefficient this program is - take a wild guess 🤷‍♂️

If you want SEC to go, then you will have to live with AFS as it limps along with no SAP support. Doesn't that sound fun?

SEC will reorg, there are a lot of people who are useless and I hope they eliminate them.

That whole SEC leadership needs to get booted. They're almost as useless as the whole Acceleration Office. If JD got rid of all of SEC and AO, he should get his $2B real quick.

And realistically, SEC isn't even supposed to be a long term thing. Upgrade ERP, upgrade connectors, shut off old sh-t - done. SEC was always a temporary project so hope it gets canned first.
