Can anyone offer any clarity on whether it's acceptable to save personal documents to one's google drive in preparation for a potential layoff? Saw conflicting statements on a separate thread, both from people who claimed first-hand experience. Want to know if I should be doing that or definitely NOT doing that, and just making a list of all the documents I'd need. Been using nothing but this work computer for years now so realllly don't want to lose my stuff.

do not pity the fool who decorates her cubicle with little toys and photos when suddenly her badge is revoked and she has to recall from memory what she had on her desk for wd&c to ship back to her, or if in the office her inability to carry all her trinkets out the door while escorted by security
Don't take anything from Nike. I had an employee who took Nike files with him. Nike found out. They went after him. If you want your personal items, do what others here are suggesting, and work with Nike to get them in the right way. Don't risk severance and legal trouble.
You need to be very careful listening to people who say they won’t know. This has been tightened up a ton and I’ve seen people lose their severance and fired for taking data. You can always ask for anything you need. My wife also worked at Nike and was laid off. She asked for personal documents and they helped get her things she needed to right way. Do not risk it!

do not plug in a USB or otherwise transfer files.
JUST. DON'T. DO. IT.
you will be putting yourself at risk, simply by creating a whiff of possibility that you may be potentially mis-handling privileged information.
you can create a folder on your Nike device, put your "personal" files there - and ask for access to them upon termination - and that's your best shot.
it's on a Nike device so therefore it's not truly a "personal" file. they don't owe you access to anything stored on a Nike device.
How about deleting the personal files I don’t need any more. Does that trigger alarm?
I was informed by someone in CIS that if you log into Box on a personal computer and download personal files, it's better than emailing things to yourself. If they do see Nike-related files being downloaded they may reach out to you.
I left a few years ago before there was so much laptop tracking and security layers. I left on my own accord, so could plan my exit. It was so weird after decades of service my line of command didn’t even want to give me an exit interview. Though I was not going to a competitor no one checked on my coming and going. I was super cautious, because like some of the other posters here, I had benign personal items on my Nike laptop, including many cute images sent to me of my child while in attendance at Nike childcare. I asked a colleague to come in and look over my shoulder while I transferred those images to a thumb drive. I was never questioned, but I took the precautions just the same. Best advice for everyone here, separate, your digital life, keeping work and personal separate, i.e. laptop, and even a duplicate phone. Good luck, all.
How about encrypted zip? They can't look inside.
Can you sync your personal files through box drive or onedrive? Will that get flagged as well?

Technically anything that is on a Nike laptop is the property of Nike. Create a personal folder on your laptop and when the time comes ask for the personal folder. They will go through it and assess. I fu---d up and did not take it off before airdrop got disabled. DO NOT send anything to yourself like a zip file- this will immediately flag you. Believe me as I speak from experience
Create a folder on your desktop named "Personal" and add all personal files into that. Nike will send you the files after you have left. Any movement of a large amount of files via email/upload/download will trigger an alert and be investigated aka it will be a pain in the a-s to get them.
It’s not ok to remove personal files. Put them all in one folder and save the locations in a list. You send this to the offboarding team and IT sends it to you.
I was laid off and did the opposite and got put on a legal hold which cost me money to navigate so don’t do what I did.!
Just ask HR.
I think Box is the only allowed place, store there and note the name of folder so that you can request stuff later from there. Right now will be a bad time to get terminated for leaking any docs accidentally
First, never EVER use your work computer for anything personal. EVER.
But, now that you're in this mess, carefully(!) sort out your personal stuff, and either zip+email them, or, computer policies permitting, zip and upload them to Google Drive. Just be real careful, because if you upload or ship out anything the company owns, you could be in trouble.
