The email with the 2024 AIP changes didn't really change your comp letter. They laid out two changes to AIP in that email that they said would be applied to 2024 AIP (meaning this year's AIP that we get paid for in February 2025). Then they applied one of those changes to our 2023 AIP (which was last year's AIP that we got paid for in February of this year).

@4esu, yes but you're missing the point.

Previously the individual performance portion of the AIP bonus was always paid out at 100% unless someone was on a PIP. Their new rules for 2024 AIP state that the standard is now not 100% and unless someone is exceeding expectations in every aspect of their role, they don't get 100%. Two things: 1) this new rule was communicated as beginning for 2024 AIP along with the company bonus portion being paid in cash instead of stock and 2) every company trains managers to almost never ever rate an employee as exceeding expectations. On #1, PayPal selectively applied the new 2024 AIPA individual bonus rule to 2023 AIP but did not apply the new 2024 company bonus portion cash-instead-of-stock to 2023 AIP. Doing this (selectively applying a new rule after a bonus is earned) is underhanded and doesn't allow people the opportunity to even try and meet this new expectation (however unattainable it may be).

If you got less than 100% for your 2023 bonus that was an intentional choice made by your direct leader or above, and was likely performance based.

It means the company portion of your 2024 AIP will be paid thru payroll and not a stock grant.

On this same topic, don't you just love how they roll out new 2024 AIP bonus rules but pick and chooses to apply one part of that new structure to the already-completed 2023 AIP plan... the part about the individual performance bonus portion no longer being paid out at 100%?!

Total BS to retroactively apply this new 2024 rule to a performance bonus that has already been earned for 2023. What kind of company changes the rules after-the-fact to cheat employees out of portions of their bonus to make the bottom line look better? PayPal, that's who.

It could means the company is expecting to not be able to issue shares during that period
