Call Center

Cuts are coming. Anything not in footprint will be shut down by 2025. Many of us are excited.

US internal call centers are being replaced by Eastern EU centers until Russia rolls through Ukraine and threatens the rest of Europe.

“Out on leave” is interesting. No idea of how bad that is but remember a few years ago when Dallas was supposed to be the Uverse center hub. Started having atrocious attendance. Director came down a few times to tell them they wouldn’t maintain that location if this continued. Didn’t stop so it was shut down and the work was farmed out to other locations. Had a friend who was affected. Luckily he was close to retirement. He shared a apartment for a year or two in St. Louis with another employee who was surplused.

Overseas call centers are eclipsing unionized call centers in metrics. Unionized call centers are ghost towns because most representatives are out on leave.
The union is to weak. Take the case of Pasadena or San Diego CA. Local union presidents were rolled by at&t with illogical call center closures. The district union nor the national union had nothing to challenge this.
I don't know if there is a pending closure, but why would AT&T keep the unionized work force employed if CWA has allowed our jobs to be replaced by Filipino workers with impunity?

This is all BS. They VPs in CC know that there is not enough talent in places to consolidate into fewer locations.

What about all the overseas call centers?

All work is being outsourced to India.

Oh, excuse me... insourced? to India. AT&T is an "international" company after all. They are employees, just like us. :)

Please clarify- what kind of call centers? Mobility Collections, Mobility Customer Sales and Service, Adv Tech Support?, etc. - All of the above will be impacted to some extent.

Does 'footprint' equal a hub location? No, it does not

What about the thousands in the WFH 'centers'? These seats will be reallocated to actual remaining call center locations.
