Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Which one? Only two plausible scenarios.

Would love to hear your thoughts! More likely scenario?

  1. How can morale improve without a complete overhaul of Executive Management? Board fires Billy Bob (and others) and brings in a proven leader to instill confidence for all teammates with a plan to overhaul the entire system.
  2. Sinking ship continues and we continue making difficult decisions needed to set ourselves up for a potential sale within 1-2 years (ie. US Bank, PNC, etc.)

Bonus Question: Considering the terrible reputation that we have garnered in the industry, how in the world can we attract new talent? Most of the top performers have bounced. How do we replace them?

They will sell 100%. The cash on the balance sheet will be highly desirable for another bank, especially in a downturn. The current management will only do things that create a windfall for themselves. Just look at Linkedin and Beau Cummins posing beside his boat in a cowboy hat and skinny jeans and then at the ski slopes. Talk about out of touch with society....Only thing employees can do is leave.

I have yet to see where this leadership can perform. Trying to act like leaders is not leadership.

I vote for a mixture of 1 and 2. Install a new CEO. Commit to the plan of reduction in force, reduction in assets and reduction in lines of business to prepare for a potential sale in 2026. A new CEO focused on execution would at least allow us an opportunity to sell at a fair/market value price.

The more plausible situation is nothing occurs. A large scale merger/sales won't be approved unless forced via market conditions. Bill continues with the Purpose Please dialogue. Truist floats along as two average regional banks which utilizes RIFs and asset sales (ie Insurance) to maintain dividend and keep shareholders at the table.

Can the board of directors not see what is happening? If you own shares you need to vote them.

Scenario 2 is happening. Be sure to check the purpose corner for updates.

@bbk+1r0SqjYp I’ll bet your 60% AIP bonus against an ego that doesn’t need to be pumped up.

The street and sector most definitely are not saying that. You are pumping your ego.

While it does appear that the BOD is taking steps for a sale or merger of SunTruist it won’t happen until 2025 at the earliest. As long as the Democrats control the White House no big bank mergers are sales will happen. If Trump is re-elected it will be the Wild West again with bank buyouts and mergers ruling the day. Can SunTruist become a buyer in such a scenario? Possibly, but more likely to the hunted not the hunter. Sad part is until something changes drastically the brand will continue to diminish and competitors will continue to take market share and reduce the value. Personally I hope they sell it soon as it is the only way stock will be north of 40$ anytime soon. Sad that these clowns and Kelly ruined one good bank and another that could have been a much better bank.

Bro…..Billy Bob needs to respect us AVPs! Typically SunTruist nonsense can’t continue

SELL - but first get me one of them PA Comfort Girls!

Option 1 is not possible given the proven incompetence of the board and the executive leadership.

Option 2 is real…not made up in peoples’ heads as one post portrayed. The street and sources close to the sector believe an acquisition is near, definitely before 2 years. It will be a fire sale so don’t expect to survive wearing purple.

I think once the bro who post “Billy Bob” and the child who post “avp” and my man “suntruist” who post over and over and over leave…. things will turn around. We are diverse truist and we are unstoppable.

Pay no attention to bitter folk who say they will be sold. They are making up rumors in their head. 🙏🏿

Pretty clear at this point that Bill and the board are prepping to sell. But good luck finding a su---r as naive as Kelly to hoodwink this time. Won't be any "merger of equals", it will be US Bank stripping the place like a 2005 Dodge in a chop shop.

It is a sinking ship. Rogers is just doing what he is told to do.
