Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Working for what?

I haven't seen a positive work environment here in about 8 years. It gets worse every day and I don't see it turning around. They will work us to the ground until we are replaced by WF India. I refuse to work extra hours. I'm not giving them anything extra because they'll give us the ax sooner rather than later.

In my constant frustration at working at this place I was scrolling through old threads and came upon this post, @rhn+1q8QuPjd. The only thing I would add is 'replaced by AI as well'.

I used to be a gung-ho employee but now (as incentivized) I put in just enough effort to avoid an inconsistently meets, while I leisurely browse other job opportunities and await a possible severance.

No reason to try to excel here. You’ll only get a promotion if you tick a DEI box or if you brown nose. We’re actively being replaced by those in India, and as customers love to taunt us about, AI. I’ve worked my job for multiple years with no reward. I had two interviews here in all that time, and any other application I’ve submitted has gone directly to the shredder.

Some people work to help others, to solve problems, to improve things, etc. (and, of course, to be PAID and earn a living—that goes without saying). There is enjoyment and pride in a job well done for the individual who is intrinsically motivated. Those individuals are rare.

Working for what? = Staying for severance. I pronably don't even need it but I'm staying now just for spite :)

Agree. I do my job very well but I learned years ago, going above and beyond is futile here and is a waste of your time an energy. They only reward the butt-kissers (and now its the DEI nonsense) and the game players. Its the same thing - those that actually do the work are the ones who get screwed the most.
They ki-l any motivation you might have had - seeing coworkers get away with doing absolutely nothing - watching teams get outsourced to India.
So I work to get a paycheck and if I'm displaced, I'll consider it a win and will hopefully move on to a company you can be proud to work for.
