It used to be one of the only places in the world where you felt like your life was part of the company at your core, kind of like Tiger Woods. Well that is over, and based on my experience after you leave it’s really very nice to get back to what you made you. Even if you don’t get canned, you should ask yourself if your personal life is too tied to a company that no longer has a soul. Deal with it sooner or later.

Agreed with OP. And it was amazing. Yes, I know it’s a job. But legit up until 7-9 yrs ago it was amazing. 5 yrs ago my leader turned on me too. At that moment I realized Nike had transitioned. And I realized I had drank a lot of orange kool aid. Therapeutically I threw all the things from Nike I had collected in the garbage and separated mentally and emotionally. Cut loose all social media ties to “friends” at Nike. And……though still at the swoosh …..never been happier. It’s the right balance now that Nike is corporate game of thrones. Always looking for something outside and ready for a more positive next adventure.
Berm life can be all encompassing. I was there from 2001-2016 and it was everything to me until my leadership failed me. I left and am so much happier since. There is life after, and that life is amazing if you are ready. If you aren’t and are still letting the Swoosh dictate your every fiber, you’ll struggle.
If someone got an Apple, intel or even damn adidas stripes i would legit think something was not okay upstairs 😂, that’s a wonderful way to put it. Like that damn swoosh is any different
And for those who think all your "friends" at work will stay in touch once you are canned. Guess again.
This is just the thing that makes Nike such a bizarre place to work, how people covet it so fanatically for no clear and good reason. I know at least one colleague for certain with a swoosh tattoo and have seen plenty more..... imagine having your employer willingly tattooed on you, let alone a corporation with a penchant for discarding its workforce. Its utterly fu---n dystopian.
The masochistic anti-flexibility herd on this board have helped make it a little clearer that the koolaid just appears to poison itself. Someone really ought to study how this brand so easily dissociates its workers from reality.
LOL....get a life, mate. It's a job!
You don’t need any Nike license plates, plate frames, tattoos or other accessories. Would you get those if you worked at say Geico or Amazon or Intel? Probably not. It’s just a job.
We know. It happens. Next.
Great take. Berm life is all kool aid and politics.
