What's the point? No matter how hard I work, my chances of being laid off are just the same as those of a person who barely does any work. Since people are being laid off based on their pay instead of performance, why should we bother with giving it our all? Just do the bare minimum and go home. Nothing will change in how we're treated.

DEI doesn’t protect over 50 white females.
Of course not, restorative justice demands they sit in their discomfort while they surrender their privilege to those they have wronged.
@OP+1qpsxAO8 I do hate to tell you but layoffs are always calculated this way anywhere.
When they closed a whole fulfillment center in FL. last May they cut with a chainsaw and let top performers go which spoke to the fact that no one reviewed the person to make good choices they just had a cut to make and did it with blind abandonment, and disregard for how the service may be effected on what business we had left coming in. The approach was very short sighted, AND for most trying to repurpose themselves with the company was met with a closed door as recruiters didn't care as they were looking outside the company to fill positions with no real attempt to place the RIF teammate, which was just insult to injury. With all that were laid off how is very few could fit roles that were open???
i think my situation was pay based. when you are making as much as your manager's manager, i guess you are on the chopping block. over 17 years of service and now i am no longer needed. i will say i loved working for bb&t...truist, not so much...
good luck to those still there
The ones laid off in my department were the least performing and everyone knew it.
Remember we are a regional deposit powerhouse.
Sounds like someone needs to watch the new Purpose Corner for January posted this morning.
DEI doesn’t protect over 50 white females. This was once the most protected class.
Our purpose is to inspire and build better lives and communities. We do this through real, unwavering care.
It's so hard because I want to help clients but Truist has made that impossible. My team had a flood of work at year end we could not possibly do in time. It is so disheartening that to have your best efforts never be enough because of how this company chooses to operate.
Wishing they would replace leadership and try running a profitable business model instead of chasing a tick marks for their reports.
Downsizing the board and keeping 7-6 hSTI majority and then creating an “operational council” for Bills beckoning seems counter productive. We’re seeing the results this month and I’m sure the earnings calls will be a complete embarrassment.
It was obvious in my group the 3 people laid off were the worst of the worst in performance. The one here for 20 years that liked to act busy, the one that would always have a sudden illness as a deadline approached, and the one that was never reachable between meetings
Yep, it doesn't matter at all how you perform... after all my hard work and dedication I got rif'd. All I can say is good luck to those still there because it's just going to get worse.
The issue with cutting positions based on pay is a pretty serious one. First the longevity and experienced folks face the gauntlet and that leaves the inexperienced and non committed in place for the future. Secondly your most productive are the ones most likely showing on the radar as highest paid because back in the day we used to give raises to the folks that produced. That changed with the new leadership that tends to give everybody the same trophies.
If indeed this is what is happening and I do believe it could be (because the hBBT folks are getting axed 2-1 in what I’ve seen) then this company will become a complete shell of its former self. This leadership couldn’t run a bingo game much less a company of this size. We need new folks at the top, not a gutted out company. You cannot grow through downsizing Bill, when will you ever learn?
That's the SunTrust culture in all its glory. The point is the politics, and your aptitude at playing the game is what dictates survival. Actually being good at your job and doing it well is at best irrelevant, and may ultimately put you more directly in the line of fire.
I feel the same way and the tension in the air is so heavy you can cut it with a chainsaw. Productivity is at an all time low and motivation is scarce. The culture is deathly and for comparison, you can remember back last year Truist was begging us to send in recognitions for other teammates That’s not happening anymore. It’s hard to watch this whole place crumble to the ground. Where is it mentioned that the rifs are pay based instead of performance? It’s obvious why but isnt it for both scenarios?
