Unemployment implications on Child support payments

If anyone has experience with this i would appreciate an answer. Currently child support payments come out of my paycheck. If l am affected, am I still responsible for the payments or does oregon pause/reduce the payment till I get another job?

Man or woman if you are even remotely thinking if and how you should get out of paying child support, shame on you! If you had to go to court in the first place to establish a child support, shame on you! You do not need a court or a judge to tell you that you are financially responsible for your own child! Jeez

I was the OP and am a single mom. It was just a simple question, why so much judgement and assumptions.

Will your child pause their need for food, clothing, etc? You didn’t think this post through before hitting send - did you?

A woman would never think for a second that she could skip feeding and sheltering her child because she was unemployed.

Also, only about 20% of single fathers are the custodial parent in the US so we have a pretty good shot at being right.

And before you get all MRA again, men rarely fight for custody which is why it’s almost always the woman serving as the primary parent.

I like the biased assumption that a man posted this.

It’s possible a court could reduce payments temporarily if they were deemed onerous. But you would have severance, unemployment and assets the judge would look at. And you will find another job, perhaps one that pays more. There is life after Nike just like there was before.

Parenthood comes with responsibility and people depend on you. You need to provide. Those of us with kids at home don’t get a break either if we get laid off.

Hm let’s see. Does your child pause/reduce their need for food and shelter when you are unemployed?

Your child needs to eat regardless. Be a man

You will get a severance and that needs to go to ensure you are still paying child support. Same with your unemployment. You would have to petition the court to have it reduced and so it’s probably better to pay your child support than pay the lawyer

Your child needs to eat and have a place to live even when you are not working. You should pay child support.
