Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Paid two months PLUS severance or part of severance?

I’ve been with Nike 23-ish years so have been through several small and large layoffs. For some reason I’ve convinced myself that this is the one I get axed. I have zero to base it on other than gut feeling.

My question, people have said you get two months paid until you are technically laid off. Is that two months considered part of your severance? For example let’s say I get 26 weeks severance. Is the 8 weeks I get paid until I’m technically laid off part of the 26 weeks or in addition to?

TIA for answers.

@ebe that’s nice and all but you are a massive a-s kiss and should be let go based on the fact you posted that. SMH

@1hy Your job isn’t to provide ideas, your job is to sell their ideas and convince everyone else the bad ideas are amazing 😂

@1dzp+1qhY0aQG Thanks a lot for sharing your input. I appreciate it. It was just a few months ago when I actually proposed a new solution to my manager and he was quick to criticize it and started disagreeing..... I quickly learnt it is not a place for a lot of innovation and I had to submit to his opinion. I am now executing his plan but know it won't work but I am also too scared to say anything

@1fdo I was just laid off and also loved my job and team. I did all the things recommended below. Has a wide network singing praises, multiple high fives a year from senior leaders, delivered results… the only thing I can think is I shouldn’t have tried as hard and been more of a yes-man, asked zero questions in open meetings, and built more private relationships with the top line (SVP+++). That or my relationships with VPs and Sr Directors made my new manager feel threatened….

@1nsm+1qhY0aQG Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts 20 years is very impressive achievement. I am the one who asked for advice on how I can keep my job. I apologize if my question started a series of negative comments from others. I truly enjoy my team at Nike and I am always impressed by senior folks who have been around 20 plus years

Been here over 20 years as well and those of us that have been, don’t do any of the bullets below.
We’re typically gen x so we don’t move around a lot, do our job and remember the better daysdays before the crop came in about 10 years ago and after that do all the bs in the comments you whiny cancel culture bi--hes.
Jesus, they simply asked a question about severance.

  1. Know the Maxims. (And pretend to use each and everyone in your role).
  2. Live the Brand. (Drink the kool-aid).
  3. Create beautiful presentations and be an even better speaker. (Use key athletes, product categories and corporate buzzwords in every slide).
  4. Look the part. (Be fit / work out. Dress “right”. Dine at the “in” cafes. Know who the “influencers” are).
  5. Network. (Be “besties” with the key decision-makers within your orbit).
  6. Manage-up. (Engage with SR. Leadership, to the best your Manager allows, without feeling threatened).

I am sure there are more, but these basics will serve as a good foundation.

I’m In a role that only the handful of us in it knows how to do and it’s fairly critical to the business. (As critical as anything is in a footwear and apparel company). The whole team have been in the roles for ten plus years.
