Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Remote positions?

How fair it is for those coming into an office are watched for badge swiping, while many are still remote? Please don't think I want anyone to lose their job. Employees are afraid to work at home when sick because of showing up on a report so sick people go in and spread the germs. I know someone who was demoted and couldn't have people reporting to her because it was stated many times when RTO started that leaders MUST be in an office, yet, there are many leaders who are remote. I can understand if job categories are remote because of travel like sales people, but how fair is it that an employee having to come in to an office does the same job as a remote worker? I think there needs to be more flexibility, less crowding, stop putting employees on top of others, more parking, etc.

OHIO may be the safest place to be right now! Almost untouchable...

Considering the remote workers put in 12 to 14 hours a day. Are expected to be available 24 hours a day. Are you really complaining??? Remote workers are treated as the second class but clean up the mess when the BH team can not figure out what to do. Plus the knowledge that you likely have no chance of keeping a job you had for years and loved. That makes remote work so fantastic. You should give it a try sometime

The person that keeps saying you are safe in Ohio. Think again! I am remote in Ohio and received my layoff notice.

It was bound to happen that we’d eventually turn on each other regarding remote vs office workers.

Considering this is Fiserv and Fiserv is a reactionary company, they would lay the disabled person off. Then re-hire them after Fiserv gets sued.

Has anyone with a diagnosed disability, like depression or anxiety, successfully requested remote work as an accommodation? Also, how does this affect job security, considering disability discrimination laws?

Remotes are being phased out on a quarter by quarter basis, based on the company's needs and hitting numbers. Even for those remote employees who feel safe and were maybe promised to be kept around longer, you will be released at some point, whether it is in 2024 or 2025. What you need to be careful about is that there may not be any severance money left. Those being released early are actually lucky because Banking Solutions is going downhill (by design) and the work environment will become more and more toxic.

One of my remote team members was told that they were in the third quarter wave for layoffs. They will be gone in February. They will lie to you even as they are laying you off.

Commenter before got it right- it's a phased-plan. Those granted remote exception this round are on a countdown clock- in 2024 they will be asked again to report or go.
In 2025, any remaining remote employees are next to report or go. Also in 2025, those in offices where their BU is not located will be requested to report or go.

Managers may be on a slightly different timeline. I hear that they must be with their BU in 2024 or it's splitsville.

Don’t worry. you will get your wish by 2025 and all the remote workers will be gone by then. You will have to come up with something new to go on about. Maybe how most of the experienced people were forced to leave and now who will you look to?

Most remotes will be gone by the end of 2024. Every quarter there are less remote employees

See your problem is that you are considering things with logic or fairness. Those things don't exist at fiserv. Hope this helps clear up any future confusion you will run across.

They are systematically removing remote workers, at some point it won't exist anymore.

The problem is they have key people in certain areas that are remote that if they don't want product failure need to remain in place. They are doing their best to get to the end goal though, nobody remote, despite the toll that will take.

At some point, Frank probably hopes another su---r comes along like Fiserv did that will buy a company he trashed and assume the debt/risk. Though maybe he wants to retire before that.

Remote people are afraid of losing their jobs so they are working hard or at least pretending working long hours. This forces on-site people to match their long hours, or you are not working hard enough, at least doesn't appear to be. Su-ks to be in a position where you have to spend hours a day commuting while competing against those working remote positions.

All the remote people are being laid off. Many of which were forced to remote after their office for years was closed. That's the point of the centers of excellence. February will be fun for those remaining. Your org may differ on timing, but don't worry it will all be made 'fair' for you soon.

Rules for thee and not for me.
Colm O'Donnell summarized it just right on question about remote work he answered: "if you want remote work this company is not right for you"

In 6 months there won’t be any remote workers left. They’ve already laid off thousands and thousands more are to come. They are in process of decimating the company to sell off banking. Unless you are in NJ or NE, don’t get too comfortable in office. You are simply a number and they don’t care.

That would make sense if the plan was to keep all the employees. They want you to quit.
