Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

JD Ruined Nike and must go

A soulless leader is su-king the soul out of a great brand and getting paid 35M to do it. Every decision he has made as a leader has demonstrated that he knows nothing about running a consumer product company and repetitive non-inspirational speeches and him hiring his consultant cronies can’t change that. He has destroyed the place and needs to go.. There is a rash of stupidity at Nike and rewarding and continuing to pay the id--ts that brought the company to this precipice is pure insanity. People can be inspired to make this brand great again, but not by JD. Phil. Wake up. Save your baby from that soul su-king monster before it’s too late..

Well this confirms what I’ve always suspected—a lot of the people posting here no longer work at Nike and were laid off in 2020 or 2017

Everyone keeps blaming JD. This is part of a cycle that has gone on long before he came. It is Nike's DNA on how to thin and save money. I was there when they did a huge reduction then said, well, we will be hiring back many of the positions where they just sent someone packing. I was absolutely stunned.

I agree with everything people have said. Being a “victim”, and i am not using that word lightly, of the 2020 cda, what has happened since? NOTHING! The loser who came from Johnson and Johnson as ceo didn’t last this long. Four years and what has JD improved?????!?

JD brags about using layoff to cut costs prior to coming to Nike. The board knows. I am certain they installed him do exactly this.

Don't think the board is going to anything short term.

Thinking that Nike is somehow different than other corporations is truly insane. Please seek therapy.

Agree. He needs to go now. Phil and the Board have got to wake up. I don’t even understand where these layoffs will come from. My department is already so lean. Are we just supposed to stop making, marketing and selling products? The work is suffering from a restructure that was not only unnecessary but also made it more confusing and difficult to get work done. We should’ve never went to a gendered offense. Sometimes I just want to walk away and say F it. But then, I’ve been here a while so why not stay till I get severance? But then again, I don’t know if my mental health can handle even more ambiguity and just waiting around to find out if I have a job or not. We’ve been in this mess since 2020. Is all of corporate America this F’d up? I used to think Nike was different. Clearly I’m wrong!
