Being unemployed or being employed but miserable. I thought being unemployed was the worst possible thing but now I'm rethinking that position. Working here might be worse.

I waited for severance but I already had another job. When it finally came I ended up with both a check and what seemed like a vacation. New employer was happy to have me exclusively and I’m still working remotely even today.
Thanks Frank!
I am literally a better person in life since I left Fiserv. YOLO.
That's why those "waiting" for severance are crazy. Find a job before you are unemployed!
There's the old adage that it's easier to find a job when you have a job. Not sure how true that is, though. Years ago, I was laid off and it was a horrible experience. Waking up in the middle of the night to scan the internet for jobs, on edge all the time. And one other time, I worked for a toxic boss. Both are terrible, but only one puts food on the table. Good luck, whatever you do.
Good news! If you don't find your next job while working at Fiserv then you will get to experience both!
Many decades ago, I was unemployed for a few months. I still remember how it felt and I never want to feel that unease again.
Getting laid off is one thing, but quitting before securing a new job? I don't know how miserable I'd have to be to do that (and I've been miserable in the past). Keep your current job and spend every spare moment trying to find something else.
Have been thinking the same thing
