Thread regarding PayPal layoffs

Don't bother

I've seen so many folks give it their all to the company just to get used up, trampled on, and then tossed aside in layoffs like they're nothing. This company has totally lost its way. It's stuck in this perpetual transition mode until it crumbles because all the folks who give a damn will have left already.

I agree. Stay away. The company reorgs itself every few months. Everyone’s confused all the time. No empathy for layoffs from even management. We lost entire teams and still treated horribly by management. It’s a very toxic environment filled with incompetent leaders.

It's true, just Google the Chief Compliance Officer's name and read about what he did before he joined PayPal. Who would hire someone even in an entry level role that did that? Here he is though. Constant bad decisions that just get rewarded. This company was so lucky covid happened, or they would've been done in 2019 when they couldn't pay anyone's bonuses or raises so they "moved" them out by 6 months to float cash. All while they made millions and ruined their employee's lives. Let the company burn.

It really doesn't even matter how hard any of us have worked these last few years. The executives have continued to make poor moves based off bad KPIs they themselves set. Like all the fraud accounts that they had to admit to that tanked the stock price? Enabled by the AML executives who further weakened already weak on boarding and KYC controls so they could allow easier account creation to meet the net new account KPI. They enabled and facilitated fraud and yet they are still there. Not one exec who lost the company millions of dollars, which led to rounds upon rounds of layoffs, was laid off. They will continue to make poor decisions unless someone finally removes them.

I believe you two have the gist of it. The market is saturated the growth potential is tapped. No management will use words and cuts to move the stock a few dollars here or there to facilitate their sell offs. I have survived 5-7 of these most since we separated from Ebay. I have no motivation to work. none just grabing a check till they fire me in spring or summer

I feel bad for those left to pick up the pieces of the top talent they let go to save a buck. It was obvious the new direction and Amanda Wiltshire Craine followed her norm of reorg then sla-ghter the help with layoffs then she leaves. While i was not impacted many of my former leaders were-who by the way were some of the best leaders. Low performers were left alone. I’m very clear that the “new” PayPal is not a place I’ll be staying or a place anyone should aspire to work. The layoff story will continue until all work is shifted to strategic sites offshore . Meanwhile AWC hires highest paid people in highest cost locations such as New York for her team. I’m over PayPal and being rattled and fearful everyday!
