Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Is at&t

a. Still bending employees arms to give their fair share to UW?
b. Threatening employees who don't give?
c. Threatening employees to sign up for 3 years salary for life insurance to benefit at&t NOT the employee family when the employee either active or retired dies?
d, Threaten the employee who signs up with a better, cheaper service?
e. Still have at&t at home for the overpriced "benefits" that only benefit at&t?
f. Still threaten 1st levels to sign up for the "ambassador" program where the 1st level spends his time & gas to visit & sell services to customers while getting no payment for the sell?
Asking for an enemy.

Remember when everyone got called into their bosses office 1 by 1 only to find out that some were released (terminated) and the rest of us were offered our same jobs back & we had to sign a at will contract?

How about when managers who were on call 24 x7 had their free phones so that they could work - and - Ed decided he could increase revenue by charging us 50% for telephone service & started the SBC @ Home gimmick? Many of us jumped to Vonage & never returned.

Boy do I have the episodes to tell. Sure glad I'm gone.

OP here.
I retired a few years ago & these are in fact true.
I was forced to sign up for the Ambassador Program - and as a Ntwk Manager was responsible for a few active switch conversions really didn't have the time to visit after hour subscribers, so I didn't. Got a few calls from by boss as well as the District Mgr over Ambassador who told me that either I visit or I'm being dropped from Ambassador, so I said - You know what? You don't have to call anymore, what's your address as I'm sending the book, the contacts and that Ambassador shirt back. Then she backtracks, stutters, uh er - & I said I'll look you up in phone - that stuff will be there in your office by Thursday.
In addition,I was present when Big Ed held his annual San Antonio meeting and noticed a District Level with a Sprint phone.
It was a flip phone, he twisted it, threw it to the ground, crushed it with his feet and said if you work for SBC you use SBC products & services.
SWBT, SBC, AT&T is a shop of horrors. Unfortunately, the secret layoffs are today's issue to pay for financial mismanagement. Sorry for those getting axed!

25 years service and have never had any issues with any of that. Are you delusional?

I remember all those coaching discussions about giving back when I first started. That was the first time I took a stand because I want to donate from my heart, not because they wanted me to.

What I say to anyone complaining of their employer, “you are welcome to quit and find another job”

the company shifted the United Way-only focus several years ago and opened the options to any listed charity. However, to qualify for the company match, the charity had to pass internal gatekeepers' qualifications. I chose Veterans For Child Rescue #V4CR which did not get the match.

Well, after 21 years with the company, I can say I’ve never experienced any of that. While the company is quite toxic, None of this has ever happened.
