Whatever that may mean. Given the company's performance, I assume many people will be affected and soon. Competition did better than us last year. Maybe our problem is the leadership? You do not solve major management problems with laying off workers. But, I guess it is the easiest way to go, while they can preserve all their benefits.

Every layoff is limited. Any company. You can't layoff the entire company workforce and survive.
But, but, but, but, you can’t really deny with all the back scratching that we now have a lot of people who shouldn’t be on the payroll.
Have you looked at who gets promoted and who they knew?
Less people employed means less people to help members navigate their benefits and that means less expenditures for salary to employees and less expenditures on member benefits.
That sounds good in theory but is NOT how staffing works...you don't just put someone on a PIP unless there is a specific item they personally have shown a performance gap in. The reality here is the CMS v28 final notice has impacted dramatically the ENTIRE industry. Humana has most of its eggs in the MA basket so it is especially vulnerable with the lowered reimbursement amounts from CMS. Add to this the continuing high utilization rates from those insured (utilization was theorized to have plateaued and decreased by this time post-pandemic) and it is a recipe for disaster: High expenditures with lowered revenue. The only levers Humana (and others) have is to lower G&A (general and administrative) expenses and people costs are by far the most expensive. So RIFs will occur and be big. It is expected and planned to happen quite quickly. If you are a mediocre or poor performer (got a medium or low performance rating) you really must get a plan in place to take the package and get your next job/role set up. Now is the time to do this, don't wait. You can complain about how unfair it is and how bad the culture is but the business realities are driving it...it isn't really about you and nobody appreciating you. If you were looking for sympathy and a pseudo-family from your employer that is on you and your mistake. It is just your employer and where you do work...enjoy your work and helping people...but now look for another company where you can do this and get a salary. Sorry if this hurts feelings but is the honest-to-God truth and the sooner people understand this they can move on and get their livelihood figured out. Your employer was and is NEVER your friend. Your co-workers and even boss can be, but at the end of the day everyone is expendable and it is At-Will employment. Take charge of your life and work.
Limited layoffs of the people that are actually working! Those people are the heart and soul of the company and when they’re gone, things will slow down. If upper leadership thinks they are going to save a lot of money by laying off people in front line jobs, they’re delusional. Most people I have talked to are refusing to do more for less so they’re slowing it down, only meeting the bare minimum, which is only going to make things worse.
Put the executive leadership on "PIPs", (Performance Improvement Plans). Then, for the new victims they just hired to replace BB & that other guy for enterprise growth, put them on a 2-year probation program, capping their salaries at 50% until improvements are made AND "seen". Sure, plan pricing and/or additional legislative items take months to a year or so to change & execute, but changes aside from RIFs & early retirement "can" be implemented more quickly in my opinion. If this place wants to beat up people, stop beating up the ones that live the values of this place & figure out a way to deal with greedy shareholders & others oblivious to the "Human" talent that has been made to suffer through all this.
