AT&T was iconic and now it is a running joke, Just wild how poorly this company has been run.

People seem to not think about opportunity loss, they will hold this garbo hoping it will go up, when that capital elsewhere could have doubled, tripled, or more in the same amount of time.
If you believe capital will produce better gains elsewhere, then sell the stock, it’s that simple.
When I look at a particular ticker I own and am considering selling, I’ll ask myself, is there somewhere else this capital will make me more money? If the answer is yes, sell immediately and buy the other stock. It’s really that simple.
If no or unsure, then hold, but this shouldn’t be a complex calculation for T stock due to its performance and likely performance going forward.
- “I've been around a while - hired in with BellSouth. Particpated in the ESP plan with the 15% discount. Pre-merger late 2006, I sold most shares of BLS that left 50 shares of T at $37 each on 12/29/2006. My cost basis for those shares was $20.73 so I was up a few bucks. Fast forward 15 years - dividend reinvestments only (no longer purchased) I now had 110 shares trading at $30 beginning of 2021. Stock had dropped $7/share over 15 years - a LOUSY "investment". I was tired of this stock and expected it to go nowhere. I sold all shares and glad I did. My net gains after holding that stock another 16 years was $221 total. And the stock has continued to drop!”
Yup, been telling people to dump this Garbo.
Maybe if the price tanks enough they will get rid of the overpaid execs and hire someone who can actually run the company.
You get RSU’s? Sell them the second they vest.
You get 401k match? Sell it as soon as it hits the account.
You get grants? Sell it as soon as it vests.
Take the money, buy something else.
If you’re not a ‘trader’ buy VOO and just sit on it, if you want dividends and are lazy buy VIG or some dividend fund. If you know how to use BrokerageLink trade that capital and double it on NVDA, MSFT, etc, and actual well run companies.
Sell AT&T stock.
