Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

RTO Exception

If you are not returning to the office via the way of exception watch out. It is not a matter of "if" but WHEN you will be laid off. The corporate monster wants you under its thumb at all times. Enjoy your time at home while it lasts, dust of your resume and get off your a-s. You are no loner of value.

@pvmn+1qJRBh00 call center jobs will be outsourced by end of 2025 probably to India anyways, so there is no point of stressing about RTO and having to deal w all that nonsense that you mentioned

RTO for what group? I personally love working from home. My office is quiet. I am not surrounded by loud ignorant people as it was in the call center. Someone is not eating a full rotisserie chicken next to me. I do not have to be subjected to BO or foul fish odors coming from under the desks. By having us work from home Verizon saves a lot of money.

Pre covid when I went in by myself and everyone was in another state it promoted equality in suffering. Since the folks in BR had to go in it was only fair I had to go in also 2000 miles away. Way back then my director would get reports on badge swipes to ensure we went in.

I don't understand the CONSTANT obsession with RTO. Who cares? If you have to go in and thats what the want go in. If you go in and are sitting there by yourself, it makes no sense. If it builds on a team dynamic, then great take advantage of it. Wherever you are working from....deliver results, deliver value, act with a sense of urgency, be a good team mate. Stop this RTO BS...! So sick of it, ge-z give it a REST!

How come boomers can't handle remote and hybrid work? Time to retire you old telco fossil.

@2mxv+1qJRBh00 I think we all would like pay increases, but I doubt we are paid less than T-Mobile or AT&T.

Rto is going to continue to increase whether people like it or not. The weaker the job market gets the stronger the push will be.

I hope not it’s such a waste of time. If they do they’ll need to adjust salaries. We are still way underpaid compared to our competitors….i guess so the mangers can confirm they’re worthy of still being employed…

Honestly if it were 4x a week in office I’d rather just do 5x and leave the office out of my house.

Yes, RTO is definitely not an if, but when. Look at our competitors. They are 3 or more days per week as of now. Likely increasing as other companies have done. UPS just announced 5 days per week starting in may, which is one of the largest I’ve seen so far to go 5 days apart from the banking industry. It’s a slow moving process which is frustrating because it seems like everything is static until it isn’t.

@1cka+1qJRBh00 Remote is essentially dead and hybrid is slowly marching back to 4 days per week in office.

I suspect it is a middle management type that is scared that they are no longer of value because upper management realized they are not needed in a WFH environment. Sad.

What's with the RTO obsession? The culture is hybrid and remote.
