Any idea how many new colleagues would be joining us from Lean IX acquisition?
I bet that strength will compensate for the 8K departures so that at the end of the year the total count remains the same as stated in the announcement.

And more details…

“The intended restructuring program is expected to impact 8,000 positions globally, across all Board areas and regions. In Germany, we plan to exclusively offer voluntary programs – in the form of an early retirement and a voluntary option – and to avoid forced terminations for operational reasons.”

“…investment of €100-150 million in learning across all teams and Board areas in 2024…”

$220M (€202M) bribery scandal payout was more than planned investment in learning.

To continue on my post the official email is also out:

Dear Colleagues,

Since we began our cloud-first transformation over three years ago, we have maintained our strategy despite facing significant global challenges and macroeconomic headwinds. With today’s earnings results, it’s clear that together, we have laid a strong foundation from which we can continue to evolve.

We can be very proud of what we have achieved so far. But becoming the #1 enterprise application and business AI company cannot be done without continued evolution. As technology advances, customer requirements change, and competitors move fast, SAP must also continue to adapt and adjust to maintain our leadership.

One key focus area for our future success is AI. To harness AI’s massive growth potential, we must invest significantly, infusing Business AI across all functions and processes and delivering more value to our customers and colleagues faster than ever before. We took some important steps in this direction already with the organizational changes we announced earlier this month. Now, to ensure we continue to thrive in our fiercely competitive industry, our focus must be on our continued transformation and improving our efficiency.

This is why we have made the difficult decision to announce our intent to implement a company-wide restructuring program that is expected to impact 8,000 positions globally. We believe that up to two thirds of the people affected by this intended restructuring will be able to either find new roles within SAP or select voluntary program options. A key element of this program will be our focus on reskilling, with an investment of €100-150 million in learning across all teams and Board areas in 2024. We will also offer initiatives to support colleagues who are interested in transferring to new positions internally, and will share more details about this soon.

Decisions of this kind can only be taken with the utmost diligence and care, and this will take some time. We are committed to being as transparent as possible at every step of the way and on behalf of the Executive Board, I assure you that we will do our utmost to support all our colleagues through this period. Our approach is focused on fairness, respect, and social accountability, and these principles will be at the heart of every action taken.

News such as this inevitably raises questions and we will use today’s Global Employee Meeting to address as many of these as we can. Additional Q&A sessions are also being organized to ensure ongoing open and transparent communication at every level. We have also set up this SharePoint site as a central resource for frequently asked questions and regular program updates.

Thank you, as always, for everything you do – for our customers, and for each other.
