Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

1/22 Surplus Notification - please post any related activity

1/22 is on the calendar as a surplus notification date with off payroll in 2 weeks. This is independent of any wave 2 activity that may take place. Coincidentally, Legg has a town hall scheduled to discuss something about wave 2. Should a surplus take place, it will be interesting to hear his comments about it. I think his call is in the afternoon, the notifications will likely have occurred by that time.

@vgk+1qHRrA2R , your list is interesting, but in order for it to make any sort of sense we would need a breakdown of the ages of the remaining employees.

I mean, if a huge majority of the extended team/department were 40+, this list isn't really the smoking g-n you imply.

ATS Legg call was on 1-22 to notify about Wave 2 moves. Notifications are supposed to be sent 1-25, and decision to move or not by Feb 9. If not moving off payroll some time between April-December based on role.

The list does not include a single Level 3+. Typical outcome. Does anyone know if any Levl 3+ reductions are planned?

Bawcum? I was on his call before I took a new position not requiring a move at that time the bloated toad said only 30 people in his organization declined to move. I talked to one yesterday and they were not on a list yesterday.

This was expected, just not sure when, we were told it could be spring or later, this Is the employees who refused to move to Dallas.
Age would be inline with those who may own a home free and clear or gettting close, grand kids and already set up with doctors, dentists, and other health profesionals they trust and do not want to try to rebuild this network again.
Perfect plan by stank to get this demographic to step aside.

Average age of surplus = 53 years. Probably excess of 20 years average service. Well in excess of average age and years of service of AT&T management employees.

33/51 or 65% are in excess of 50 years old.

No expert but clearly age discrimination related. This could clearly be a winnable case. See an attorney.

Over the past several weeks we have been evaluating certain business units within at&t to ensure our workforce is best aligned to meet competitave challenges we are facing.
reducing our workforce is a difficult decision...anyway I am off pay the 5th of feb.
