It's just a job for you. Unless you are a major shareholder, you shouldn't care. You show up, do your work, and get paid for it at the end of the month. That's it. As simple as that. Outside of layoffs, you really shouldn't worry about what the top mo--ns are messing up.

Unfortunately leadership has turned it into just working for a paycheck, while employees are constantly looking over their shoulders. Wages aren’t keeping up with inflation, benefits have been greatly reduced, policy changes, work load constantly increasing, internal systems and tools being replaced by off the shelf products.
Leadership’s response is to leave if you don’t like it, you are just human capital. More layoffs, contracting and changes to come, morale will only worsen. Senior employees no longer recognize the blue chip leading company from years ago and are just trying to make it to retirement, the culture has been ruined and will never be the same.
agree - its just a job. Its never going back to where it was (ie bellsouth, sbc, pactel). Hopefully, you have a good boss.
Those who are the most upset know they are stuck with no other realistic employment options.
OP message is exactly why T and the culture within is gone.
an unhealthy business means an unhealthy work environment, it doesn't take much to figure it out
Idk about you but I don't like working for the losing team. Everyone likes to win.
Some of us take pride in what we do and who we work for.
What's the point in grinding away from a company that's failing?
My life is going nowhere and the executives are doing so well. Just not right.
I'm still a stockholder holding a year's worth of match (all the rest traded at a loss at 18-ish).
From the point of view as stockholder, "how the company is doing?" matters to me.
For those still working for a place that went from a leadership position in remote work to a toxic "I drove in for this?" mentality, "how the company is doing?" matters, I hope their work environment improves. They deserve better.
For the people at the top who drove this bus into the ditch, "how the company is doing?" should really be "why are they still in charge, and what kind of failure would it take for the board to fire them?"
At this point, I'm happy to "show, do your work, and get paid" and not care about the id--ts at the top. However, they keep messing that up. They (Stankey) made bad decisions, which turned into debt, and then we have layoffs and hear nothing but "you are responsible for reducing expenses so we can reduce our debt." With RTO, life is chaos as employees lives are turned upside down and we lose people, people that management refuses to backfill. BUT we can't slip on any of our commitments! If you do and you have an a-s for a manager, you get a lower rating and an even lower raise (not that a 2% or 3% increase can currently be called a "raise"). Meanwhile, Stinkey is up there getting a 20% raise for doing nothing. Things like RTO and making people move that actually serves no purpose but to show he can sc--w with employees and there's nothing we can do about it. The answer is to leave, but, for me, I'm too close to "retirement" to walk away. For many, with other companies laying off and companies posting jobs and not actually hiring, its not a good time to be trying to find a new job.
When the cake eater suits do stupid things and implement stupid policies it effects everybody not only the business but the employees! Believe it or not most people care about the job, they perform and hope it contributes to making the company better not fighting the id--t micromanagement of the company!
OP—
Because most people want to see their daily efforts actually matter and have an actual meaningful impact instead of simply getting a paycheck.
Vs. simply playing music on the T Titanic
Because the company isn’t managed correctly, the RESULT is layoffs!
Id--t post. Maybe I shouldn’t care when contracts are broken and deals made are ignored while clowns in suits smoke cigars and play golf?
It matters because it impacts me and my family. They make bad business decisions, it means more layoffs, more work dumped on people like me to pick up the slack, which means more hours worked, and more stress. It also impacts me and you in terms of pay, raises, advancement, and bonuses. No, I want to see the company booming and pulling in the money and I’m sure many on here actually care a lot and want the same. It’s better for all of us when they are having awesome business results.
If that's so, then why do they go out of their way to trumpet and explain (or obfuscate and explain away, more commonly) those results to us?
Can't expect people not to care about something when the entire ethos of the place the last few decades has been to try and make everyone believe they contribute to the results.
"...You show up, do your work, and get paid for it at the end of the month..."
To be fair, some people are showing up and actually NOT getting PAID, so, I mean....
