Is there a day of the week that they generally send the layoff notices?

From what I’ve heard in the past from others, you are usually invited to a meeting by an HR professional with a blind copy of recipients and told to not forward the email. The HR personnel informs you. They may be doing it differently now but this is how it was done in the past.
The meeting where I received notice came from my leader and not HR. They notified my department mid-week.
