Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Are Senior Architects safe?

Was a contractor before and got hired as a senior architect last year.
Lo and behold the hiring manager and lead architect took early retirement.

Is it worth staying?

Depends on what you actually do, and with architects at Humana all I've ever seen is not a lot being both lead, engineer, and admin in various positions. Maybe it's been figured out finally that the engineers, admins, leads, and contractors do all the work and all the architects do is jump on calls and give their two cents, document nothing and truly research nothing, and at best some 'actual' work consists of extremely rudimentary Visio diagram with an APM number in Service Now.

The only thing you'll usually ever get from Humana architects is a bunch of lazy careerers who have been there 10+ years sitting on their a-s going Zoom call to Zoom call making good six figures contributing nothing more than anecdotes and passing the buck.

RUN!!!! Fast as you can!!!! There are going to be additional lay offs in IT, and the next time around it will not be contractors.

A tech lead can do an arch job if need be. I would start looking now.

Many scrum masters let go and a dozen contract scrum master roles paying 50% less posted by head hunters.....why Humana?

Yeah, at this point I don't think any one or any department is safe, unfortunately. I'm in a similar boat and haven't been here that long, I think the best we can do is have our resume's ready and hope for the best.
