I was informed by my manager last week that the company is moving my job to Dallas. I can't move to Dallas. He said we need to be there reporting on-site by either June or August. Does anyone know when I'm supposed to be "off the books" by?

I fu--ing hate this timeline, dude.
Just get another job now. Work both jobs until at&t kicks you to the curb. I know several at&t employees that are overemployed.
You sure we get 6 months from notification date? That means I can say not moving but stay on for 6 months, then get a severance?
This topic can be summarized in one statement.... Move to Dallas to keep your job.

Every organization has different rules and is doing RTO differently. Seems like a big chaos. Another fiasco.
as they should.
it would be completely illogical to have different roles be forced to do the exact same thing.
The issue is when its different because the boss thinks he can score points with stankey by 'exceeding' the mark. thats just bad management (and what we expect and experience daily)
My group was not offered the option to move, just given an end date. Some others in the office in other groups were given the opportunity but you’re taking a chance that after the move your time will still come and the cost to move is all on your dime.
Everyone has to make the call for themselves but as someone else said, I would use this time to network if you have not. Get your resume together and start working out what you want to do next. If you agree to move and don't, no severance you will just be gone.
“ The job "re-apply" is to legally make you an "at will employee".
Meaning, you can be terminated AT WILL. T's will that is, to get rid of you for no reason.”
Most people are already “at will” employees and can be terminated for no reason.
Which office on the East coast? Which SVP/VP do you report up to?
In reference to the following post "You should be receiving a letter with official dates. You will be told to show up by a certain date, or be off payroll 6 months after the official notification date (the date of the letter)."...
As someone else said... the RTO rules are different from org. to org. We have been told in our organization in AT&T Business that there will be no formal or official offers to move. Several in my office were given official move options. I was told our org won't get official move offers and to move now if we want to stay w/ AT&T...even being on a contract w/ customer until 2026.
Some have even offered to move but gotten zero responses from their managers to provide them the opportunity to move. That tells me they aren't looking for people to move but to either replace them in low cost centers or not at all. Many of our managers have told us that they won't be backfilling many of the positions. Budgets were cut deeper than they expected. Isn't the rumor we are going from 156K to less than 100K employees.
who knows... it's the wild wild west and moral was shot dead 6 months ago.
I suggest you get a game plan together. First, you need to get your resume together and start looking for another job. The AT&T work is now secondary. Your main job is finding another job. Second, look at the AT&T severance policy and see how much severance you are entitled to. Third, find out what you unemployment benefits will be after your severance runs out. Fourth, make a decision on what is more important, buying yourself time to find another job or a severance payment and unemployment benefits. If you tell them you will move and then don't, you can lose you unemployment benefits depending on your state's rules because AT&T will say you didn't show up for work (for cause) vs the job moving which should entitle you to a severance package.
The job "re-apply" is to legally make you an "at will employee".

Happened to thousands of us in the 1990's. Came in to work and boss asked me to sign a document offering me my old job - but he didn't explain it - probably because he was too d-mb to understand it. I researched it first and if I wanted to keep my job had to sign. Yes. A force sign then was offered the job that I was performing.
Having to reapply for your current position.
110% Craziness!

- “OP here. Yeah, so what I was told was that they will open our positions up and we would need to reapply for our own jobs in Dallas. (I'm in the east coast). We haven't been "officially" notified, I'm assuming by HR so I guess that's what we have to wait for. This su-ks.”
Yeah, that su-ks.
I’m ATS so maybe it’s a bit different, but they just want us to be in one of the primary hubs, basically.
They don’t seem to care which, and directors seem to think all of this is really stupid and as long as you’re in some hub you seem to be safe for now.
I’m not in one of the ATS hubs but we can do most of our work remote anyways, so they’re going pretty easy on us and letting people move, or lie and basically job hunt on AT&T’s dime (one of my directors even suggested it)
Lots of disgruntled upper management from this whole debacle…lots of them being told to move too for basically no reason.

If you don’t have a bunch of severance the smart move is to just say ‘yeah sure bro’ and job hunt.
From my understanding if you do this correctly you should be able to buy yourself enough time until September/December, at least for my org/location.
Dates vary based on location but September & December seem to be the main ones.
I’m hearing rumors you can get an extension with manager backing til middle of 2025.
Those in my office who were given a date had an additional 3 months. For example... One was asked in late October if they would move, had to decide by early November, and is off payroll Feb. 5.
My organization in Business is saying they are not giving resources the option to move... and just releasing resources.
