Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Lay-off and retirement

I am expecting to get notified that my job is moving to Dallas and my termination on Jan 22nd. I meet the rule of 75 and was wondering am I still eligible for the $500 to have a retirement dinner?

Policy can change at any time, just like they went from months on payroll after layoff to 2 weeks then, bye bye. Moral of the story, get sooner than later if you are interested.

Yes...you are eligible for your retirement party benefits. Look under HROneStop Surplus retirement.

Lucky to get severance these days, the Globalist Lords are taking it back to the Robber Baron era. Top 2, Stephenson and Stankey.

Damn bro. I remember back in the day you used to get a Rolex, now you get a $500 dinner?

Modern life blows. Take me back.

" It is my understanding if you get surplused and are eligible to retire you can do both, and get the severance and unemployment"

If you are retirement eligible and get surplused, you are basically forced to retire.
You will receive severance according to the plan you fall under. Unemployment eligibility will vary by state.

I don't understand people's obsession with this type of thing.

Is a free meal really that important to you?

Take your retirement dinner and stuff it, honestly.

Have you no dignity?

Just like the anniversary dinner, your boss can / will call the establishment and arrange to the meal expensed on their card

I was recently “surplussed” and I was MR retirement eligible, so I got the 6 months pay and medical (part of surplus) and I also got the 30% phone discount, $500 dinner, catalog gift Weber Spirit Grill, and dopey plaque from Poppa Stank.

Get yours, if not co-located with boss, just take friends out on your Amex.

I tried to get my retirement dinner. I was in Orange County, CA, and my boss was in Dallas. They had me jumping through so many hoops that I just gave up and left. My reward was retiring from AT&T!

If you are retiring, keep in mind you cannot retire and also get the severance

Where did you get this info from? It is my understanding if you get surplused and are eligible to retire you can do both, and get the severance and unemployment.

Yes - you need to take advantage of the $500 retirement celebration. Don't leave anything on the table at Toxic-T.

It is just one lunch for the Stink!

"I skipped the $500 dinner because it just wasn't worth it."

You are silly @laf+1qBOTUnm, or perhaps disgruntled. I had a big party in my backyard and had it catered. My boss put the first $500 on his card and I picked up the rest. Moving on from T is a time to celebrate!!!!

I had a coworker pay for mine after I left and she expensed it. Had a great time with a person I worked with for over 20 years.

Yes, you can get your $500 dinner and also pick a retirement gift. You have 180 days from your last day to get both done. I did my retirement dinner before my last day so I could use my Amex card before I had to return it.
