Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

U-Verse TV out

Must be a U-Verse TV outage this evening. Have all green lights on Gateway modem but screen says U-Verse not available.

Called 800-288-2020 and got message that wait time was 7 hours or I can schedule a call back tomorrow. Every time I inputted, I got a response of “no appointment is available at that time”, so I hung up.

It use to be a time when you could get technical help with a real person without having to wait forever. This is what a massive force reduction will do. I have had AT&T service for over 30 years, but it is time to change. Time to disconnect and go with Spectrum. I get a flyer in the mail from them at least once a week with a tempting price to switch, so I will go with them. AT&T, years ago, use to have good service and response times.

no money in supporting customers just sell it let the customers deal with the billing and service.

stank could care less about putting money in maintenance and supporting customers.

Wait time of 7 hrs reminds me of a joke Reagan made years ago. In the Soviet union, a man goes to the telephone company. The guy says he wants a telephone installed. Telephone company guy says, “OK, we have somebody out in seven years.” The guy asks, “In the morning or the evening?”
The telephone guy says, “it’s seven years from now. Why does it matter?“ The guy says, “I need to know, because the plumber is coming out the same day. “

My AT&T internet with Streaming services is working fine. I like having the ability to turn services off and on or change service plans (Fubo), whenever I want. I also have Amazon Prime video and Netflix, with a Roku smart TV, more options than I have time for but it fits my family’s needs.

T can’t afford to service customers like previous. Record debt and quickly eroding margins force these decisions. There is stark difference between Spectrum and T, it starts by looking at the stock price. Spectrum is healthy and roughly 20x what T is . They can invest, T can’t. It’s only a matter of time before T is broken up and sold in small parts.

Leadership has determined that Uverse is no longer a valuable and critical product.

You should see how high the customer impact thresholds are for this service. The entire platform could fail and no one would even be alerted.

Appears to be a nationwide problem. I got on one site that had people from all around the country complaining that UVerse TV is out, but no announcement about it.

Uverse is a dead platform. AT&T wants to do cell phones and internet only. Tv market is saturated and the only people left on old cable subscriptions are old timers that can’t self help with streaming. Streaming is like cell phone versus a pots telephone. Open an app it’s cheaper and has more functionality.

I'm with you. Mine went out at 4th quarter 2 minute warning of the Green Bay-Dallas game. My message says wait time from 6 hrs. 6 minutes to 7 hours. I don't understand why they are so hesitant to acknowledge there's a problem.
