Impacted by this layoff or not, urging all to do an annual update of their resume and emergency plan should a layoff occur for you in the future (though it's 100% that layoffs will continue with this organization, they may or may not affect you, depending on your situation). When one is personally affected by a layoff, it's hard to think and act given the roller coaster of emotions and the number of tasks that need to be done in a short timeframe, and the steps to (re)build the life you need and want. Take the time to create your plan today. Though you may never need it, when I needed to reach for my plan, it was a relief that I didn't need to think about all the details at a time I was least able to do so. It doesn't mean separating from my employer was an easy thing, but I made it easier on myself by having a plan in place. It's in this spirit that I share a type of personal risk management idea for you to consider. Wishing all a prosperous, peaceful New Year.

This engineer person is a real nut buster. I use to think they were mentally challenged, but now realize they are just here to annoy everyone and discourage people from coming to this site.
Ignore the “Engineer” post. Same troll, different day. NEXT! …….
Not true. Engineers won't be let go. We make the company and get 5 ratings.
totally agree. The company is a business, pure and simple and everyone is expendable at some point if your role is not in their plan. You can hope for the best but plan for the worst.
