The DEI argument is being stoked by Nike corporate interests to keep us in-fighting rather than unionizing against Nike.

@5yum - I’m with you. It disheartens me to read statements like the above from assumed co-workers. DEI matters, period. And like any business function, it is not infalible. Please take into consideration the power of statements you make. When you say DEI is a joke, it reads “your needs as a minority / underrepresented group don’t matter.” Remember, too, that the DEI function is full of people working hard to do the right thing for Nike, the employee, and our consumer. The actions of 1-2 do not reflect that of every person in the function.

DEI is just done wrong at Nike.....Opportunities for advancement DO NOT exist equally for all....even though they should. Person biases and grievances prevent otherwise very capable folks from advancing. Ironically most of this bias is coming from people who would be considered as from underrepresented groups.....in reality they're just a bunch of hick mean girls.

DEI should be a systemic ethos at all levels of the company. The way the department is operated (and staffed) is antithetical to DEI, despite sharing a name.

One example. Why did we make a new tech office in SoCal instead of Detroit or Chicago? That move was bad for the checkbook and bad for DEI.

You guys do know that many people of color and under represented groups buy Nike product faithfully right? The company should reflect the diversity of its consumer base. Diversity in and of it self is necessary to be successful...now the people running it at different orgs could be an issue but needless to say we should make attempts to find qualified diverse voices (gender, race, background, religion, athletic, non athletic... all of the things) to make sure Nike is grounded in the reality of the consumers it wants to sell product to. So don't down DEI because of bad seeds or being overly aggressive with targets. It is of value and to say its not valuable makes me question people's morals and values.

DEI is an absolute joke. Should be the first thing to go if we're serious about competing hard again

JD said DEI has been a failure....Nike is loosing its a-s handing out participation ribbons...next % going to attempt to start caring about winning again...instead of hurting everyones feelings.

DEI at Nike has been such a nightmare! Can you imagine if she was still employed by us? As if we need the press. Glad JL cut her loose when he fired most of that team... and then the rest bailed. I give it a few more months before we just scrap the whole thing all together.
