Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

No Layoff in IT/Bill Braun Townhall

it seems contradictory to this site but Bill Braun said there is no layoff in IT! Can we trust his words?

A rhetorical question, OP. Here's another - do you know of a single career bureaucrat Chevron manager whose word you trust? (Hint: history will show you the answer is a resounding NO!)

@1qaw - what do you think writing comments are for? of course they get all comments to read through. they are anonymous, unless you're stupid enough to identify yourself in the comments.

but that whole bit on the return to work thing while I know some IT XLT members for sure do not come into the office, or some don't even live anywhere near Houston anymore. will BB make them come back or fire them?

Once you find out the truth odds are it will be too late. We are not laying people off just outsourcing jobs to India….

I’m glad I’m not the only one who remembers JJ’s blatant lies. I haven’t trusted an exec since that good-for-nothing, saggy-eyed fail-up lied to my entire BU in a face-to-face town hall saying “there are no plans for a layoff” less than two weeks before ESP was announced.

Wish we had more straight sho-ters like good old Bill.

What he did state, is no layoff, but there will be reporting line changes, so not certain who IT will end up reporting to. BB also stated other groups will be going through restructuring. And we all know the survey isn't anonymous, they get a list of ALL comments by employees.

it is pretty unfair that BB says he will no longer address our desire to "work from anywhere," yet there are senior IT leaders who have packed up and moved away. we make exceptions for them, but everybody else has to go into SR or HOU? that's some BS.

BB is the archetypal Chevron career bureaucrat who has reached his career plateau and will not advance any further. Usually these are people who have accomplished nothing in their careers, and higher management recognizes that. Being in the 'inner circle', they will not be demoted (laid off? Heaven forbid!), and will be allowed to keep their positions as long as they parrot company policy.

Its not a layoff it is a "selection event". Thats how our leaders justify lying to our faces about it. Remember JJ in 2015.

You cannot trust any of our leadership. The chances are high layoffs are coming!

BB is one of the greatest IT leaders. Reigning CIO for 8 years and counting, not a single real success outside of PowerPoint slides in that time.

When was the last time you heard any words leave a chevron managers mouth that was true?

I don't think any of the upper managers can be trusted. Everything is cloudy and vague with them lately.

You be the judge - BB is a career Chevron manager who has accomplished nothing. Someone you want to trust?

All the leaders are trusted…well that is what the survey stated…so yes! Now have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
