Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Prepare for more turbulence ahead

Some people seem to be under the mistaken assumption that a) layoffs are done or b) even if it's not done, they're safe. You'd think that after everything that has happened, everybody would know by now that there are no such things at CVS as being safe and being done with layoffs. People who think like this are in for a world of pain.

To the people downvoting the post about getting laid off anywhere and living in fear helps nothing, are you saying you disagree with this statement? It’s true, you are never safe anywhere. You are employees at will so looking for security is a not achievable unless you have a contract. What part of that post do you disagree with? Do you think living in fear helps? Also believing in all the false rumors and enveloping yourself in the drama doesn’t help either.

Nobody lives in fear like at CVS/Aetna. It's not even once a year anymore. It's all the time.

“No point in giving yourself ulcers”… sounds like complacency to me. While comfortable in your place at CVS, network, keep your certifications current, update your resume. These actions don’t cause ulcers. But these inactions when you are laid off, will…

Living in fear helps nothing. We could be laid off anywhere, there's instability across the industry. CVS has good severance. I know I could be laid off at any time but today I still have a decent job with great work life balance and I'd be starting over as a new employee on probation somewhere else. Nobody is safe anywhere, at any time. Even if you knew for sure you wouldn't get laid off, you could get a terrible new boss or your duties might change to something you hate. No point in giving yourself ulcers for no purpose.
