Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Good people being laid off, bad people still have jobs!

It would seem that Verizon Wireless has decided to layoff off good quality workers and keep slackers and worthless workers instead. I worked for many years side by side with one of the people that got burned down Thursday. The worker was 1 of the best performers in the area and help others too. They got their work done with quality too! Meanwhile there are a few on the staff that don't know anything, have to always ask for help time after time and never help others - because the can't as they don't know anything. One of these employees is a loudmouth, always complaining and in meetings just causes disruptions with nonsense! And, that person was written up for behavioral issues too! That person kept his job! Clearly local and direct mangers had zero input to whom was laid off.

Verizon used to be one of the best companies to work for! If you did your job, excelled at your job and your PAD was always tops you had nothing to worry about. Now some knob job that knows nothing about the actual worker is tossing people out the door! How sad that hard work, excelling at your job is no longer valued at Verizon Wireless.

In the Spirit of "transparency" that Verizon Wireless always touts about how it handles business. Tell all the workers what the criteria was for these layoffs and what info was used to make the call! This last riff was clearly done in secrete and without local manger inputs so Verizon, be transparent!

It is because good people cost more. To the consultants that figure this out, it is just a calculation in a ledger. How much do you cost versus a different butt in that seat. That's why valuable, seasoned employees have been the first in line for layoffs lately.

High earners and others with high medical costs are being let go to save money...to be replaced with fresh young faces getting paid a quarter of those laid off.

You're a real piece of work, @1noa+1pw7CWnN. Your DM have people that depend on them and their salary.
If you have a problem with them, grow a pair and address the issue with them. They may not even know there's a problem. If you don't have what it takes to do that, start applying to other positions.
Take at least the minimum responsibility for yourself and your situation instead of blaming others.
That's the real problem at this company. Too many immature and weak people that can't take control of their own lives let alone their area of responsibility at work. Instead, they'll wish misfortune on others or worse.

Yeah, this sounds familiar. If Network Assurance they were probably fishing through spreadsheets on who was getting paid the most, putting in overtime to keep up with all the projects and tasks that were hard set dated and assigned to them. Good people with nuts and volts technical talent is a resource. And there IS a shortage of those kind of those folks.
