Nike was d-mb enough to recruit her. Probably networking... she did a horrific job at Amazon so did not stay at Fashion. All her stores were shutting down so jumped the ship before chopped off. Now, she is ruining Nike. D-mb move for Nike!

Crush it? She basically ruined it. Look at her Leadership style. She shoukd be coaching, developing and learning from.the team NOT dictating and directing traffic. She has to go. Her results are dreadful for the money she is making.

Another Amazon reject. Amazon Fashion was failing during her tenure. Good Leaders are adaptable to change and the new environments which Amazonians know to fail when they move on to new ventures. Nike judged the book by its cover and hired her while Amazon did not seem to want to accommodate her after almost 2 decades being there. That's the point! After 2 years at Nike, look at the results zhe produced. Rapidly decying company, boring more of the same and a company destined to hostile take over.

Has anyone heard from her? When’s her start date?

Nike had many tech leaders who had no tech background in past. It didn’t help. In short term we will see lot if changes (hopefully for the better). Only time will tell but I’m not optimistic

NA Tech recently had a non tech VP. Iris was a great person but did not have the chops to run the org

I fear the new CTO is here for a short tenure as well

Reached out to some of my peeps at Amazon … The response was all the same, we should be prepared for a wild ride and a blood letting. But hey! What else is new LOL

Like I said, she’s going to crush this and is exactly what Nike needs. At some point she’ll be more than just CTO to the company. Think about it. Maybe she’ll solve why Nike apparel is designed for five influencers all in the same narrow limited age range and is losing market share by the quarter.

Possibly JD still wants to drive tech strategy from backend!

Interesting choice by JD, no tech experience. I like it, maybe will be able to do clean up without any attachment to tech/people. I can’t wait to see few good Amazon tech leaders to join as well.

Yes very impressive educational background (to PhD level!) - however I was surprised note few, if any, technical leadership roles. The vast majority of her time at Amazon seems to have been in more GM-type roles, with P&L / biz type leadership being the main focus.

Will be interesting to see how that translates to a dysfunctional and legacy tech org in a highly political and matrixed environment.

And Amazon likes to move fast, while Nike is more of a glacial pace (despite the lies we like to tell ourselves)

Just another DEI hire...

Never trust a new hire who has been given up without a fight. Impressive on paper but I have lingering doubts.
I remember when the Lulu senior materials person was “acquired “ by Nike in the midst of Lulu’s transparent tights debacle.

She’s exactly what Nike needs. She’s going to crush this thing. Google her education and accomplishments. I can’t believe Nike actually got her!! Good job on this one JD.

She appears to have only worked at Amazon and has no tech roles in her LinkedIn profile which doesn’t make me super confident about her ability to lead a dysfunctional tech org. However, anyone is a step up from the Rat. Also wonder why she’s starting before the Jan “reorg” seems like a negative vibe for a newbie to the org.

Only time will tell. Unless we too introduce URA. Then goodluck on that one. Could soon become a chopping block. But I’m happy that they brought in someone from almost the same domain (fashion) sure we are not directly into fashion, but would be interesting to see how coming from a customer obsessed company affects our company’s initiatives
