Layoffs in Seattle

Just got taken out behind the shed, 12+ years moved here for this job. Worked my way up into network from being consistent top 1% of sales nationally pre-pandemic.

Severance offer is absolutely pitiful. Will be homeless in 9mo, medical runs out at the end of the year. Everyone I know here is looking for work now.

Seattle let's you steal everything you need to live, so that will help. Good luck.

Some states allow you to collect unemployment benefits during the period that your severance benefits cover. So apply day 1 for benefits. Good luck to you.

12 years is 24 weeks of severance. If you got less than that then you need to review your package. First medical is covered through the entire period. So not only should you have 6 months, then you should have unemployment afterwards to also assist.

Why will you be homeless in 9mos? You're in Seattle which is still a tech hub and you have a bit of time to find another well-paying job. Right now it seems bleak but immediately refresh your resume, update your LI and start searching for jobs. I've previously had the best luck by filtering jobs posted within the last 24 hrs. Think positive and GL!

Keep your head up!! Hit the open reqs with all your effort. Network like crazy! You’re not alone in the process. When one door closes another opportunity will present itself!

What was the severance offer?

When I took mine during the Great Cleaning of 2018, it was the standard 2 weeks for every year of service.
