Thread regarding VMware layoffs

BC severance policy

I’ve read where Broadcom’s severance policy is normally 2 months plus 2 weeks for every year of service. Can anyone confirm?

After 12mo post VMware acquisition, severance values should improve, not get worse.

It’s 40 weeks max, essentially the same as VMware if you have tenure. Hoping this deal goes through so I can offload all my shares then I’m bolting

The two months is the WARN notice. VMW gives 2 months WARN, 2 month’s severance, and one week per year of service up to 12. So 7 months total, max. BC gives one week per year—it’s ambiguous if your VMW tenure will count but I wouldn’t count on it—up to twelve and WARN notice, so a total of 5 months total, max.

Keep in mind that if you take a pay cut that means those months are worth less. And you only get the RSU/bonus if it pays out/vests before they lay you off.

I’m betting this doesn’t close, but if it does you will definitely be worse off severance wise than now.

BC will give you 1 week per year of service. There is no base 2 months severance. So max payout is 12 weeks for anyone. Not great.

You can’t believe anything they say, even if it is in writing. Sue them.. sure, go ahead.

Since new offers are going out, would that be your tenure with VMware or with VMware-Broadcom. Maybe I'm being overly pessimistic but I suspect the latter
