They targeted the employees who ate the most Fig Newtons.

If the Art Department sits in Q now, it wasn't them.

Health and Life Sciences are in Q. Not sure if those products ever made money and sold well. Probably not. It seems only Fraud and Risk sold well.

does anyone know the answer to this?

“There were at least 2 layoffs last week (end of Oct) in Bldg Q."
“What department/division is in building Q?”

JMP is in building A and seems to be hiring.

What department/division is in building Q? Is JMP in Q?

Since they kicked the can down the road to 2025 it makes sense that things would be quiet this year and begin again with gusto in 2024. In the last webcast I heard mention of revenue goals and how we are on track, but no mention of profit goals and how those are going.

I'm waiting, hypothetically, for JG's undocumented children to be laid off. It will never happen.

@3gys+1piDR4AD - Oh no, that's not true.

At SAS, both the women and pipeline are strong, the men are good-looking and the children are above average.

They've never had a layoff, either, have fifty-seven years of consecutive revenue growth and will be around for another forty years.

We've got a strong pipeline. Lots of deals in the works.

I think that the post was intended as humorous. It gave me a chuckle. Not quite at a snort, but definitely a grin.

"2 days until packages! #dreamon #itsmymoneyandineeditnow #ididntgetrichwritingchecks"

Come on people .. given the hashtags he/she put, this was kind of funny.

I mean, I'm wanting a package just as bad as the next 60-something person, but there is a good point that I'm certainly not entitled to one.

@3lkx+1piDR4AD In all seriousness do you say that as someone in the know or as one of the typical “I don’t actually have a clue” posts on here?

If you get laid off and get a severance, do they pay out unused vacation? If so, what about used vacation that was not allotted for that year, but was rolled over from the previous year?

Yes. All vacation days that are earned but not yet used are compensated - this is the policy.

Just to reinforce, I worked with some of the laid-off testers also.

I can believe that some of those laid off were slack. But the ones I knew were competent people who certainly would have welcomed training.

These people were targeted because of their salaries, no other reason.

"...And to set the record straight -- I knew a few of those folks and they were quality employees. They were not slackers who refused offered training ... just typing that makes me angry all over again..."

Thank you. Dishonest blame shifters. This is validating.

If the founders are serious about selling, then they have more work to do to get the revenue per employee metric more attractive to a buyer.

Increasing revenue is the harder way to boost revenue per employee. Cutting head count is the easier way to boost revenue per employee.

Low hanging fruit is skewing headcount reduction to those employees who produce little or no revenue. Obvious areas are lay off landscaping, cafe, RFC, HCC, etc. Replace via outsourcing. Has any of that happened?

I don't think anyone who posts here has any idea if another package will ever be offered. When the 44 testers got laid off (many with 25+ years of experience), to me that was a clear signal that we aren't looking at the old SAS-way of doing things going forward.

And to set the record straight -- I knew a few of those folks and they were quality employees. They were not slackers who refused offered training ... just typing that makes me angry all over again.

Same post that said more layoffs at end of October also said early retirement packages to be offered, which also one would think would occur before or at the start of Open Enrollment. Bad source? Guess we'll find out next week.

Check the post “Beware the Hatchet.” The author had their job eliminated this month. It’s unlikely they were the only one.

I wouldn’t put much stock in anything you read on here saying that such and such is going to happen.
