A number of career consultants (recruiters) and some associated teams were informed of a company-wide layoff on 10/24/23 in the morning.

To the person that claims they have a job offer from the career transition service..,I call BS. I called today and left a voicemail and not one call back. Maybe your Macdonalds application was approved?

They should have laid off more high $$ people to save jobs. Take the FP&A department for example…that team is 3 times the size of the core accounting team. We are talking 25 people to

  1. Maybe cutting those managers and directors could have saved several jobs. As it stands today they are still hiring in IT paying 6 figures. Why didn’t they do a hiring freeze? I’m just disgusted and relieved all at the same time. I can name a few people that should get chopped….Justin Frye, Jill This, Diana Ng, Ryan Holz…..certainly cutting these jobs could have saved several of us minions. Complete B.S.

The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) protects workers, their families, and communities by requiring employers with 100 or more employees (generally not counting those who have worked less than six months in the last 12 months and those who work an average of less than 20 hours a week) to provide at least 60 calendar days advance written notice of a plant closing and mass layoff affecting 50 or more employees at a single site of employment.

I just wanted to let you all know that while you were in here complaining, I used the re-career service from MS and already have a job offer! Good luck out there!

Yeah… definitely depends on department… up until a few weeks ago, I almost always worked overtime and had more than 40 hours of work to do. Maybe if I hadn’t it would’ve been less shocking but just like many others, I worked my a-s off. Hit and surpassed every goal set in front of me.

I don't know what department you worked in, but we didn't work 30 hours a week on my team. We were overworked, understaffed and underpaid. I wish I could say I worked 30 hours a week!

Let's face it, many of us didn't put in even 30 hours a week. MS was pretty overstaffed if we are being honest with ourselves.

I am extremely disappointed in the way this company went about their layoffs. Instead of a notice, we were told we were fine and our jobs are secure. The severance package is honestly a joke, 2 weeks pay is not nearly enough to compensate for the loss (less than my rent, I pay $1900). So since we weren't given notice, we basically have two weeks to find a new job I'd the money doesn't run dry before the 2 wks are up. Leaving is between a rock and a hard place because I'd we don't take the money, lawsuits alcan take years but if we do and there's a higher settlement, those who signed are screwed. This was the most cowardice, cold way to let people go. I'm so embarrassed, not for myself but for the company.

I would say it's time to go on Indeed and flood the reviews with they treated us. Warn others of how they treat people. Not sure it will do much, but at least it's something.

Could it be possible that MS is putting out a bogus figure of 10% layoff to prevent being investigated by WARN? MS has (had) approx 3000 internal employees. 10% would be 300 which sounds far less than being reported in these posts. If anyone gets any updates on any legal investigation, please post as I’m sure many ex employees posting here would love to sign our names to support an investigation of any wrongdoing.

I counted just over 100 in the list of those who were let go. The 2nd list says, "Employees in Decisional Unit Not Selected for Termination", which I took to mean those who were in those same departments but got to keep their jobs. I'm not sure where people are getting the 500+ numbers, but I'm also not an expert in these kinds of things. I'm just trying to sort through and understand all of it myself.

I was not one to get let go but at this point I wish I was… this is fu--ing awful. They better expect a lot of people to be quitting sooner than later. The amount of work we are all expected to do now with the same pay (which ain’t sh-t)… no thank you!!

If they didn't violate WARN why wouldn't they give KETV the number of employees let go? Anyone know how many were affected?

I got this back from the WARN Department - doesn't seem like they were in violation of the act if it was only 10%, which is unfortunate for those of us who got cut.

Good morning-

To provide you with some background information, the WARN Act requires an employer with 100 or more full-time employees (not counting workers who have less than 6 months on the job) to provide at least 60 calendar days advance written notice of a plant closing or mass layoff affecting 50-499 employees, if these employees represent at least 33 percent of the employer’s workforce at a single employment site during any 30 or 90-day period. If the layoff affects 500 or more workers, the 33 percent rule does not apply. Part-time employees are not counted for purposes of determining whether the WARN Act size thresholds are met. Please note that these size thresholds apply to each “single site of employment”. Knowing the size of the layoff is critical for understanding whether WARN Act notification requirements were triggered.

Not all mass layoffs and plant closings require a 60-day notice; WARN makes certain exceptions to the requirements when layoffs and plant closings occur due to faltering companies, unforeseen business circumstances, or a natural disaster. More information can be found at: https://www.dol.gov/sites/dolgov/files/ETA/Layoff/pdfs/WorkerWARN2003.pdf

Please let us know if you have additional questions.

Please let me know if someone has secured legal advice. I have been on the phone with both USDOL and NEDOL and waiting for a response. We have 45 days to accept the severance offered according to the Company’s letter. 7 days to rescind if you’ve already signed so be aware of that. I was told, and a local news station was told, this as a 10% employee layoff, however, I’m hearing numbers much higher so are we being duped again?

After 7.5 years, I was laid off yesterday, and like everyone has said, completely out of the blue. I am still shocked and disappointed. Mostly because I transferred from a team I loved onto a new position just six months ago…if I had stayed in the other position, probably not let go. I was there for the first RIG and at this point, I don’t who I feel worse for: those of us for being let go or the teammates that now have to do double/triple the work because this wasn’t well thought out…

For those who weren't laid off, scroll through the comments to see how Medical Solutions handled this situation, because when your time comes, they'll treat you the same way. Stop glorifying companies that perform acts of fake goodwill for social media attention. They laid off over 300 people right before the holidays, offered a pathetic 2-3 weeks of severance pay, and had an inhumane approach to the layoffs.

We were all lied to for sometime now! When asked if we were financially doing ok we were told yes that our jobs were secure! How does a multi-million dollar business decide with out warning they are going to do a massive lay off? They preach to us that we are to live by our core values yet they don’t? They read from a script with absolutely no emotion or remorse! Unbelievable! I was proud of where I worked I loved coming in to work! Their website “thebestjobieverhad” has a whole new meaning! Let’s do a lay off right before the holidays! Not to mention the sh*ty severance package they presented us with and the agreement not to sue them! What a bunch of money hungry cowards! So much for human first!

The thing that I can’t get past is how they did this. Need to make reduction, fine but treat us with dignity and respect. We were ushered out like fu--ing sheep. Being read a script that made me feel ever more like a number than a person that devoted years of dedication to their company. We would have been treated better by volunteering as tribute in the Hunger Games.

I am ready to take legal action. Severance Letter doesn’t even make any sense. They’re basically saying you are waiving rights but don’t mention exactly what rights you are waiving. On top of that, how THE HE-L can you survive off of 2 weeks pay?

Unfortunately I have to take the severance. I would like justice for what happened but some of us can’t afford to forgo even that small amount. This is a really dark time for everybody involved. We thought we were safe because we were told we were safe. I feel lied to. I truly believed in this company and it’s culture. Everyone I know heard about how much I loved my job. To hear all these other stories… is eye opening. Now I’m putting the pieces together. We all are. I don’t know how they will manage to bounce back from this.

Everyone who was laid off needs to come together and file a lawsuit against MedSol!! They violated the WARN act by not providing at least 60 days notice of this layoff. They say they are treating you “fairly and with respect” by offering that sad excuse for a severance package, but they owe you so much more than that!! Don’t let them get away with this!!!!

Someone asked about being laid off by Host - I was. It was very impersonal; I met with 2 people I’d never spoken to before, one of whom didn’t really seem to belong there but I assume they had two people in every meeting for mediation or something. I felt very disrespected that no one I worked directly with or knew me could be bothered to be in the meeting. They couldn’t answer any of my HR-related questions and didn’t seem to know basic answers you’d think they would’ve anticipated (e.g. when will I get paid out PTO). I was rushed off the call (had to interrupt to ask a couple more questions) and told to await an email from HR. I immediately received one after the meeting with only a form that advised I was laid off. I wrote back several questions because this email had absolutely zero information and was told to wait for another email. I ended up receiving 3 total emails, 2 from Host and 1 from MedSol with the severance info, plus the response to my questions. You’d think they could’ve could’ve consolidated or explained that better to avoid confusion. Overall I wasn’t surprised by the layoff because of my personal situation at the company (in which I and about 20 others have been jerked around and disrespected for the last 7 months) but I know for many it came completely out of the blue. I know there’s a lot floating around about legality and I’m no lawyer but have not yet seen any major red flags (on the Host side, not sure how it works with MedSol being their parent and all), though I am having an attorney review the severance package.

To the person accusing the one who’s “lying” about their miscarriage, YOU are the pathetic one! If you haven’t gone through a miscarriage or have been mistreated you do NOT have the right to say anything at all. We all know this person suffered miscarriages and also know for a fact of the mistreatment at MS. No need to show medical documents to this POS!

Medical Solutions acts like they are human first and have A+ culture. Anyone who can see beyond the gaslighting knows they have absolutely no integrity or loyalty and are a C- culture at best.

Sorry to all who were laid off. You will be better off without this toxic, abusive relationship in the long run.

The person saying that they were mistreated during their first day and were denied PTO due to their miscarriage, im sorry, but I don’t believe that for a second. Medical solutions went about this layoff in the wrong way, but I have NEVER seen that treatment. You don’t need to lie about your experience. How pathetic.

Medical Solutions is blocking comments on Tik Tok and other sites if people are mentioning the lay off. They are trying to cover it up!
WOWT replied, someone named Gina, that they already knew about the layoff at Med Sol but it’s not noteworthy because layoffs happen. Sounds more like a coverup from the company and they paid people to not report it! This is complete BS. Everyone need to leave reviews anywhere you can and go comment on every social media account post. They can’t get away with this!

Interesting that millions of dollars went unbilled and unpaid during the pandemic, when they supposedly were staffed for it. Now after writing off a ridiculous amount of uncollected income during the 2020 and 2021 Priority List project they cut jobs saying they are overstaffed? If their pandemic level staffing couldn't keep on top of things and do their jobs then how do they expect a smaller staff to stay on top of things? Their handling off things badly goes back long before the layoffs and pitiful severance. But this was souless. Many of us worked hard to clean up messes left by others and this is what we get? MedSol needs to step up and reconsider the severance packages and be held accountable for not filing a layoff notice with WARN

Day 1: I was hired, handed over to my trainer. Within minutes called a baby, a pos, “you su-k at everything” “ f teaching you anything” ended my day in tears
Day 2: repeat day one. Talked to team lead. Was told she was like that with everyone, deal with it. Ended my day in tears.
Day 30: Still In training by the same person. Talked to my team lead several times about it. Nothing changed.
September 23rd 2022: Fiance and I suffered through our first miscarriage. Asked my team lead for the day off and the next day( Friday) denied. “You are covering for one of your teammates who is out sick, you can’t leave)
January 15th 2023: second miscarriage. “ sick pay and PTO aren’t for miscarriages. Stop complaining and get back to work.” I spoke up about how distraught I was, saying I was mentally falling apart and needed to schedule a DNC.
January 16th 2023: wrote up on IAP (probation) for mistreating my superiors. ( references back to the miscarriage conversations were the reasoning)
March 2023: diagnosed with cancer, being less than 30 years old. Asked for time off after my appointment… denied. Asked for time off for chemo and radiation since I had to travel well over an hour each way…. Denied
October 24th, 2023: laid off. Having a chemo appointment today, I drive to the hospital in fear. Fear of how much money I just spent on a tank of gas knowing I’ll need another before I’m home. Fear of how much this ONE chemo treatment will cost me without the insurance i no longer retain and cannot afford. Fear of what I’m going to tell my husband, who is gone on a fire about to be laid off for the season, when he comes home and asks me how work has been lately, if I made any friends. Fear because I’m not sure I can afford my mortgage payment in a few short days.

Thank you medical solutions, for laying us off in the worst economic conditions possible. Thank you, for making your most hard working employees pay for YOUR mistakes. Thank you for the pitiful severance package that won’t even cover 2weeks worth of survival.
We have very different definitions of “people first” “inspire with humanity and levity” “MedSOUL family “ family never gave me a big F you, but you sure did.
Thank you for nothing Medsol.

To say that I am distraught is an understatement. I’m completely pi---d off! The company’s morals and values mean absolutely NOTHING! The way they went about doing this to everyone is absolutely absurd and unprofessional! The BS statement given to everyone let go was absolute garbage. No remorse. Not caring how we are all affected with the way the economy is. The BS severance given…I was struggling as it was due to the economy. I’m appalled…hurt..mad..angry. All the things we shouldn’t have to deal with but here we are. My heart goes out to every person affected by this layoff. I pray everyone finds a great job that will benefit you in the long run. Stay positive and we will thrive!

I completely agree - we need to step up and make an example of MS because we can & we all have evidence of malice and illegal working conditions and dehumanizing situations disguised as “Human First” is absolutely a cult. I agree about PULSE. I know directors were telling managers to shut the f up and smile for their teams.

I happened to be another victim of the layoffs that happened yesterday, and I will say.. the only two people on my team that got the chop were CONSTANTLY bullied by our team lead. She was a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Once audits started she knew she had the upper hand and took so much of our work to our manager while we were being over worked and underpaid. We were the team that was manually BUILDING Pulse and let me tell you… everyone who was let go, be thankful. They went live with a system that was broken. It’s only a matter of time before everyone loses their jobs because clients will simply not want to work with MS anymore. None of their travelers protocol will be met and their starts will be pushed/canceled. We need to speak up and FIGHT BACK. Craig LIED about letting us go with DIGNITY AND RESPECT… HE LIED ABOUT TREATING US FAIRLY. Stop being silent on the things that matter most: our livelihood, our family’s, our mental health. They owe us more than 2/4 weeks pay. To do this in this economy is unjust and something needs to be done.. they need to feel the weight of their decision.

Can we talk about the fact that those 2 surveys were not anonymous, after being marketed as anonymous. All of these changes and new roll outs are a distraction from a much bigger issue. I wouldn’t participate in anything moving forward, aside from my job only. Sorry to those laid off, we wish you well in your future endeavors. I don’t believe a word that comes out of leadership’s mouth. Just a couple months back, the CEO stated that the company was in good standing. Here we are two months later with layoffs. They stated they don’t anticipate it happening again; but I don’t believe it. Get yourself a plan B, those remaining as employees. Don’t trust anyone, your job could be on the line.
