Just wanted to say- it su-ks a lot of great people were let go- a lot! We all cared about each other n all and all it’s su-ks- but put your personal feelings aside and knows it’s a business- it blew up because of covid and the travel nurse industry is dying- hospitals are broke- medsol is broke - hospitals are doing their own recruiting bc they can’t pay 3rd party companies to pay! Medsol left their values bc of greed and money and it’s crashing fast- all travel nursing companies are. Just pray for everyone and most of all pray for our country ! It su-ks yes- but just love your family and there’s lot of jobs out there! That is all , praying the greed gets under control bc it’s wild out there

Has anyone talked with an employment attorney regarding the Warn Act? I know there were some posts about folks speaking with Dept. of Labor but wasn’t sure if anyone had spoken with an attorney. I’d be interested to hear what they have to say. Kind of holding out on signing anything if a lawsuit could be possible.

@9bor+1pfCESOG if you signed last week, you won't get the severance pay until the 17th

No second round of layoffs in Q1? Funny, sounds like they are planning more in the future rather than blatantly lie to the entire company & deny rumors of impending layoffs.
It also sounds like everyone in the company is miserable and looking for new jobs. Also, Pulse is intended to reduce redundancies, expect that your job is considered redundant. So hilarious though, because that system is a joke and at least a year from being ready to be released. Too bad the investors didn’t agree. It’s ok, the results of the shotty system will happen sooner than later. Get ready to lose contracts because of gross oversights of compliance and protocol. Then there will be lawsuits and settlements. Those bills will keep piling until this company is where it deserves, ready to file chapter 13.

Maybe they shoulda cut my biller who didn’t get half of my invoices out and always showed up with her baby on calls and meetings! I get work from home but that’s hardly professional and probably why she was a mess yet I heard made the cut! I mean we couldn’t get away with bringing your kid actually into work situations and would never be so unprofessional to constantly do so! probably why it was so hard to get her to reply and made so many errors. There’s a disparity. if you’re going to fire us start with those not treating work like work and constantly clearing off not billed invoices! How did they make these decisions?

EDIT: I was not one of the ones laid off and we received the email from Craig regarding the meeting.

I’m very curious to know how the remaining staff is being treated since the layoff? Have any non-bs explanations been given at all since the ones who aren’t there anymore received none at all? As well as no dignity or respect whatsoever, but I digress. I feel like their only options now are to pretend it was handled professionally and with curtesy, although if you knew so much as one person who explained how it was really, that was obviously a lie. Also I finally met with the career counselor as part of the severance package and it was an hour of my life completely wasted.

I was one of the ones not laid off. We just received an email from Craig this morning (1 week and a day after the incident). Take it with a grain of salt, however, he confirmed there will not be a second round of playoffs in Q1. Let's hope this is true. There's also a company wide meeting set for 11/29 to discuss this.

What I don’t understand is if anything is performance or outcome based how was our department director promoted to VICE PRESIDENT OF PAYROLL AND BILLING when no one was doing their jobs right for years and we lost shi* tons of money because she never led with accountability in the over 5 years I’ve seen her dive bo-b us. We probably wouldn’t be here for this. Are promotions just based off of department size versus being any good at your job?

I agree with what most have said regarding those who didn’t get laid off. I’m sure it was a relief to some extent to not be randomly fired that Tuesday morning when everyone’s world was metaphorically rocked. However, after witnessing some truly talented individuals just get the boot over the person next to them who literally does the same exact thing, same position, same team in some cases, but were employed there less time so got paid .50¢ less & didn’t get laid off…. it seems like it’s only a matter of time. I personally would be walking on eggshells constantly fearing for the security of my position and livelihood. That type of mentality is not something I’d be able to see beyond. It’s a toxic place to be in emotionally and will lead to zero productivity. The loyalty that was once felt is gone. There’s no trust, and rightfully so! I hope, for everyone’s sake, that everyone is updating their resumes and keeping a watchful eye on potential leads for open opportunities. I have friends and other wonderful people still employed there who-like myself-would not be able to survive another mass layoff.

MedSol does not practice what they preach and now everyone has been made aware. This company has proven to be far from “human first” and would throw anyone/everyone under the bus, again.

Bottom line, don’t trust anyone. Not even the lead who claims to have your back. Not the supervisor, or any of the higher ups with their “open door” policies that they don’t hesitate to use against you. Head down, mind your peas and look for work elsewhere asap!

In response to the person who said the earliest available appt with the career consultant wasn’t until 11/7, I emailed and told them I need a job yesterday and can’t wait that long. They followed up with a call and rescheduled for 11/1. Give it a shot they might have something sooner. Good luck, we will get through this.

Replying to the comment below: You CAN still receive unemployment if you signed the severance agreement. The unemployment benefits just won’t begin until after however many weeks was listed in the agreement. Mine was 2.99 weeks so the first day I can sum it for unemployment is 11/7. Hope that helps, and good luck to you!

@6kur+1pfCESOG Not so far. I attended the webinar and signed up for a coaching session, but the earliest one was Nov. 7th, and until you do that session they don't open up all their other webinars/resources. It seems like it will be useful, but I didn't have time to wait two weeks, so I'm doing my own searches and if I'm still job hunting I'll use what they have.

I wonder how much the migration to the new system costs and what happened to the money they received when they sold the Industrial divisions.

Can we move the chatter about the possibility of a next round to a separate thread on this forum, so it can be more visible? Someone already started a thread about it few days ago, so we can perheps use that one. Here is the link https://www.thelayoff.com/t/1pi9LvX6 or @OP+1pi9LvX6

I guess cutting unnecessary costs doesn’t include the Motivational speaker Host has on file or them paying for washed up reality show stars to make cameos for three meetings.

PLEASE to the person or persons saying 5% reduction November/December, how do you know? It’s not that anyone doesn’t believe it, it’s that they’re still steadily trying to make us feel like we’re safe (we know we aren’t). I and other have been searching for new jobs should this be true (I believe it is).

Jobs are being shifted and the first sign of a layoff or firing is someone training someone else to do their job(s)- this is happening. So much for, forever.

I don’t think they can ever do anything to regain the trust we all had for Craig back in the day. This company has turned into a toxic cesspool. For the longer term Med Sol folks…just remember you are probably training your replacement. Does anyone know if the people recruited from Hay Needle were let go? They sure did a great job of making the company top heavy with VPs and Directors. It’s every man for himself now, there is no team left.

The accounting side is where the real concern is. Two seasoned, MedSol senior staff accountants had their positions eliminated. The workload for those positions have been distributed to the remaining two MedSol staff accountants and the C&A staff accountants. This is no doubt in an effort to get everyone cross trained on the other side of the business. Also learned this week is that when C&A eventually integrates to the new ERP system, they will not have a separate company ID as was originally planned. The fact they want “One big, happy family” is tantamount to wanting to reduce redundancy. Everyone is definitely shaken to the core with these events.

If that’s what winds up happening I could only guess that I’m safe. I lost over half of my team and my workload very nearly doubled, none of it having gone to C&A.

A very clear message has been sent to management since Tuesday, that none of us feel safe anymore. The response we received is that they’re acutely aware of this thread and they fully acknowledge that they need to do a lot of work to rebuild our trust. I don’t think I’ve had one communication regardless of department where we didn’t say to the other person “I’m so happy to see you”. Literally everyone is shook to the core.

If it happens, the 5% reduction in late November/early December will most likely take place to reduce redundancies in departments between C&A and MedSol. This seems a likely hypothesis since a lot of work is being shifted to C&A from the MedSol individuals culled last week.

Better start looking for another job for those still working there if the below is true.. they won’t care and will treat you the same way as the previous ones that were let go

Positive or not positive, since I barely survived the first culling (and won't survive the next), Medical solutions is going to "downsize" roughly 5% in late November/ early December,,,, so I would hold off on telling your friends and family members what you are thankful for this Thanksgiving.

Do you think there will be more layoffs? The market isn’t going to get better if bookings were low during peak season. Compared to Medical Solutions, Host didn’t lay off as many people. I was told about 8%. Maybe they will cut more next cycle of layoffs?
