Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Nobody wants to be here

It feels like everyone who's still hanging around at Truist are the ones who haven't found jobs elsewhere yet. With "yet" being the key word in that sentence. Nearly everyone I know either already got laid off, left voluntarily, or they're out there pounding the pavement looking for a new opportunity. If this continues, I wonder who'll be left to do the work in a year or two.

Agree with morale - In my dept it's dismal. My solution is to 1. Get rid of RTO - Let ppl work in their non rent-a-desk happy space. 2. Ppl won't need to wonder why desks are suddenly empty (i.e. co-worker was laid off or moved to WFH with no explanation and 3. Less rumors, speculation and water cooler/smoking area conversations. My two cents! :-)

Yeah, pretty sure my job is safe, but still layoffs linger in the back of my mind. Definitely not a good mindset for employees to have. I’m seeing a morale problem in general just being around others in office and rightfully so

Heard that the GC is resigning and just heard that the most senior Deputy GC is also resigning. How bad is it that the top 2 bank lawyers don’t even want to be here?! How bad is AIP going to be?

I've worked 5 weekends in a row. Enterprise Tech. I'm the only developer left on my team, the rest are analysts and PM types.

Everyone worth a toot has left the building already. Everyone left is either a loser or psychopath.

I like my job here and I like my manager. It will be interesting to see how moving to mostly offshore labor turns out. But I get five weeks vacation, bonus, pension, 401k match to 4% and employee stock grants and purchade plan. Stock price is down but I'll keep buying at 15% discount.

I enjoy my role at SunTruist and love what I do, so I plan to stay as long as they keep me. Having said that - I do agree leadership needs a complete overhaul. The cronyism & nepotism in my department is off the chain and leadership doesn't even try to hide it!

Executive leadership is happy to be here with no accountability for performance

I was going to put in my notice to have the time to dedicate to job hunting. However, when they announced massive layoffs figured I'd see if I could hit the severance lottery. If they keep the same EL in 2 years Truist will be going through another merger. This time it won't be a MOE and the SunTrust leaders will finally get exposed.
