Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

There is a way to handle the terrible way things are going

Unionize!!!! It’s time! The bank is protecting their interest who is looking out for our interests! Here’s some food for thought

Building a committee. After determining support for a union exists around key workplace issues, build a committee of co-workers that is representative of your workplace. Building a strong inside organizing committee is critical to building the majority support that you will need to establish your union.
• Ideally, the number of workers on your committee should be at least 10 percent of the workforce. During this stage, CWA will give you tips on building majority union support.
Build majority support. After building your committee and identifying key issues, you need to talk openly with your co-workers, discussing issues, and building union support.

Doesn’t the nlrb sue the company for you if the company fires you? I thought no I’ve seen a bunch of Starbucks suits

I agree whoever is suggesting this is some manner of internal or external trouble maker. Clerical workers in the south are never going to unionize

regarding the unionize statement. I would wonder if the person supporting this even works for truist? If they do I can tell you that they WILL NOT take part in trying to organize. The union once starting the organizing drive will tell management who the employees are that are part of the organizing committee (they are required to by law) Automakers and other places that are union shops have neutrality agreements in place regarding union organizing. Truist on the other hand has ZERO neutrality agreements in place with unions and they have ZERO plans of putting ones in place either. Want a target on your back become a union organizer. Secondly with a footprint as large as Truist it will be nearly impossible to unionize either from card check or much less a vote. due to employees being all over the place. Business with neutrality agreements generally provide union organizers with employees info such as addresses or phone numbers however since Truist does not have one they will not do that. Those who start a drive will be out the door faster than you can imagine even if they are not on the list for layoffs.

“Suntrust employees and Suntrust clients had the sh-t end of the merger. Trust ME!”
Now this was said with tongue planted firmly in cheek.

you been in banking 36 years and now just realizing that corporate is going to hose you over? The no lunches is your choice, you could have taken one you don't give discounts to corporate truist or expect loyalty for a publicly traded company, especially not one run by our current management. Your manager gives you a 0 you can have the HR department or area manager review output.

Sorry we didn't learn your antiquated system with your trash lending products, my skills with an abicus are a bit rusty.

To the BBT employee who ran her branch on 3 employees. Hi.. I hear you and respect everything you have said until you made the comment about the excuses from Suntrust employees not knowing your system. A little insight. We had 5 days of training one of those days was on Client Central. The training started in Sept. my training was the first of Oct. I was suppose to retain that training without practicing for almost 5 months while still working on our system. The training was CR-P! We opened our doors on that Tuesday with a whole new system with barely any training. All our clients coming to the branch was for service issues. OLB, Loan payment issues, debit card issues…. Because Suntrust clients had to get new card, their loan numbers all changed, and online banking locked everyone out of their accounts. Suntrust employees and Suntrust clients had the sh-t end of the merger. Trust ME!

Oh, please. The only people who truly benefit from the unions are the union leadership who are vultures.

"Growing up in the union part of the country, the only winners are the union leaders. Unions are just as bad as corporations. Trouble is now you have two money grabbing leaders."

This is a d-mb statement. There are good unions and bad unions just like there are good companies and bad companies. Unions are not inherently bad. It is either from a place of ignorance or an intent to intentionally mislead to talk about them like you have.

Whats wrong with this NEW company...let's begin at the merger where 3 of us ran a branch & most days no lunches one teller & 2 bankers hopping back & forth to the teller line. We had already gone thru conversion trying to maintain the clients. My MGR was basically pushed out to make way for the suntrust mgr. Who never came to our office & when she did like at 3pm sat in her office & fought with her ex swearing. Several times I had a client in my office. The behavior continued my co workers witnessed. We were told by a regional how great she is. If I behaved that way I would have been fired. We were told to give our heloc referrals to another individual. He sent us emails we were his top referrals. But come time for review the sun mgr gave me a zero & my coworker a 2.... 3 of us ran that office maintaining the merger of bbt. No credit or recognition. But when suntrust merged we had so many excuses from their employees, didn't know the system. I moved to another location and had to step down but yet had to train the sun folks on client central & 2 of them didn't even know how to have a loan conversation & would come to me for help. I haven't had a raise in 2 yrs. I have 36 yrs experience, 11 banks & 2 investment firms but I make the same as someone of the street & no experience. I have been licensed to sell securities so having ethical training I will not chase widgets for company profit or bigger bonuses for higher ups. I do whats right for clients & every client everytime. No raise in 2 yrs & now the company deducts 2% from 401k match. You would think with all our responsibilities we would be paid more to RETAIN employees & longevity. But in the end its not about any employee its about shareholders & profit & bonuses for the bigger guys
