Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

How has the media not got a hold of this?

Nike has an active audience here and in the last few months it’s more active. How has the news not caught on? We all know how Nike has been run to the ground but it’s been kept quiet. We hear of other work establishment in the news. Who’s butt is Nike we kissing to get away with the bullying, harassment and down spiraling culture.

People come back on here to see how terrible the culture still is. Frankly I don’t know how Nike stays in business with the way they workforce plan. It’s embarrassing. I refuse to wear the brand anymore, it’s trash. Other brands have moved into town. The newer generations will not stand for their boomer ways.

Would really help if someone out there read all this. Get JD and MM OUT. They are bad for business. Phil if you’re reading this, put humpty dumpy back together again.

The devil works hard, Nike’s PR works harder.

She needs to know enough to judge work quality.

That’s why the RAT was such a huge issue. How did no one notice the ghost roles and kickbacks? How did no one check on the cheering that happened when he left his previous role?

Managers have to manage outcomes as much as they manage people.

Her job is to manage people, your job is to make sure the lab isn’t set on fire.

If your attitude is prevalent across the team, then seems there is a culture problem and she’s more than qualified.

@vgk+1pXSN3F4 Get out of here. You definitely have Stockholm Syndrome....
Having a different background is DIFFERENT from being in an irrelevant position where you are not QUALIFIED to do your job!!!!! It is like saying let's hire a person with art degree to make an electrical lab! Let's embrace different background! Fu-k off please! An unqualified person with no knowledge could set the whole lab on fire!

@rwq+1pXSN3F4 was part of this weeks layoffs actually. None of the above and just prefer to have a mature, optimistic attitude about these things. Not worth that toxic energy in my life.

Also: I don’t agree with knocking someone for their background without asking what you can learn from them. That attitude is a D&I fail and I believe part of the problem is NXT / Nike resisting and feeling threatened by any new person/approach or idea that doesn’t come from their lifers.

@rwq+1pXSN3F4 if you were laid off I’m sure it had nothing to do with this attitude toward your new leader.

Learn to embrace diverse background and points of view.

Haha at lim+1pXSN3F4. I will do it after I cash out. I don’t hate myself enough to invest in a company that treats employees like sh_t.

@jwr+1pXSN3F4 Couple things to add:

It’s understandable you’re frustrated, however try to step back…

  1. Media, if it’s larger than local, want to be able to quantify and substantiate metrics. They also want to maintain a good relationship with Nike. Nike won’t comment and they won’t report rumors. Simple as that.

2: unless YOU want to be pigeonholed into a job don’t knock someone’s background and ability to have diverse experiences just because it’s not identical your own. Ask yourself what you might learn from this person. Get with the new strategy or resist change and see where that gets you.

  1. LuLu and adi (which you spelled incorrectly) pay half of what Nike does. Think bigger.

FYI: I was laid off and I’m looking at it as an opportunity. This isn’t the end of the world and all of it is a chance to learn and grow. Do I wish I did a few things differently? Absolutely. Do I think this was handled well, or fairly? Not at all. I am however choosing to focus on the positive which is I am thrilled to hear from colleagues and keep in touch. I met a lot of incredible people while at Nike. Networks matter and It’s the long game after all.

Learn to read and research. Probably why you were laid off. Related to Nike, look in the Oregonian.

Lululemon and Addidas are in town! I refuse to wear the brand too! It is really trash. The leggings and sweatshirts do not last 4 months! Every single NSRL person I know is applying to LuLuLemon!!! The lay offs were very strange! The VP of innovation resigned. They let go of Principal researcher who was the best in his field! People with 10-12 years of tenure were removed. Yet, useless people such as MS in innovation are at work! Why sending her on business class to China? What level of knowledge this HR jerk has from innovation? She knew nothing! All other researchers were dead to send her to setup the lab! I wish we could all boycott company Chrismas parties....
