Thread regarding Kyndryl layoffs

Nefarious Policies

Very controversial**

Kyndryl laying off employees without providing a reason or anything to do with performance to save severance pay. 2 Months to find a job within Kyndryl that too around Holidays, after that you are out.

Mgmt trying to hire more offshore resources for cheap, hope what goes around comes around because of the nefarious methods and policies.

Well hello. I may make a separate post/comment about this, cause it’s a long and relevant story in reality.

I was, too, told I was being laid off last year. What makes my story unique is that I got this news in the same week that I received a brain tumour diagnosis. I had emergency surgery to save my life, I felt so helpless and uncertain at that time, and Kyndryl did not hesitate to confront an already suffering person with such devastating news - in a dehumanising way devoid of empathy, no less.

Kyndryl knew I had been sick for months. I had been deteriorating, unaware that I was, to put it bluntly, slowly losing my life. They knew I was unwell and that I had visited the ER just the day before the call with HR, and they didn’t care one bit. I was meant to go over the severance agreement, but at that point my vision was suffering so much that I couldn’t read properly (among other symptoms such as the limited ability to walk). I was only given less than a day to decide if I was going to go with the agreement, try to find an internal position, or end my contract in several months as opposed to just one.

This is a company that has empathy in their values, yet they certainly do not have it for human life. I had been with them for years, as well. This is a company that claims to be one of the best employers in my country. I cannot get behind that after experiencing how they are able to treat a human being, especially a sick one. I guess the fear of losing my life was not enough, I had/have to fear for my financial stability on top of everything else, too.

I could talk more about this because there was so much at play. The bottom line is - Kyndryl does not care about your well-being whatsoever and will not hesitate to kick you away when you are, frankly, on your death bed.

I have received no apology or human decency from them and their actions have affected my mental health to such a degree that I’m having to treat it to this day.

Be wary and put your own life and well-being at the forefront of your priority list, because they certainly won’t do that for you.

I was laid off from Kyndryl. Was not due to performance - The contracts aren’t coming in. Kyndryl is trying to market themselves as a value ad in migrations to cloud and other services but many perspective customers do not see or want to pay for these services.

The biggest issue to my situation was how slow and laden with “red tape” the process is to be hired off the bench. Jobs listed are either not funded as of posting, on hold until a contract is signed, pre-filled with someone already chosen either inside the company or outside and job needs to be posted for HR reasons.

If u do find a match and get through several interviews it takes WEEKS as the hiring manager just procrastinates as u count days disappear on the calendar.

The problem with the "US labor is too expensive" claim is that while it is extremely tempting, living with that claim will take a company down a very dark path. So OK, go ahead and fire the US workers. Why should US people hire Kyndryl for anything? US workers eventually start US businesses, many of which will require IT outsourcing services. Again, why should I hire Kyndryl?

Also, we live in an age when globalism is going by the wayside and nationalism is coming back. We in the US treat much of the world with official disdain and contempt (Russia, China, much of the Middle East and South America, among others). You're not going to hire people from those countries...not anymore, not after the government sanctions. So, in addition to all those countries, Kyndryl fires US employees because they are "too expensive to keep employed". Who is left to hire?

I feel the same way as you stated. I am glad I am retiring in 2024. What the he-l happened to America. Hardwork and loyalty meant something in years past. Those old fashion values are long long gone. I spent the last few years worrying and feeling insecure in my position with kyndryl. IBM got decades of loyal service from me. Their thank you and reward to me was to pass me over to Kyndryl.

Without a doubt, that is a truthful statement.

American workers are too expensive to keep employed. This is the problem in the American corporate world. Kyndryl has cheaper options when it comes to hiring offshore labor. Then throw into the mix A.I which really is a thing eating up jobs. The US labor force in general ( white collar ) are really in trouble in terms of their value. Get's even worst if you are an older worker in their mid to late 50's.
