Non-employee here. Why is BPX looked down upon relative to other BP subsidiaries globally. Also, is BPX, generally, more "woke" than other units? I get that impression from reading other posts.

Let’s keep this going. Plenty of connected blowhard managers still there. One mgr in Denver and another in Houston are both the sons of DL’s buddy from when he was at Shell, another one in Houston was another protege of his from there too. Retired COO/VP’s daughter was hired to replace a 25 yr geologist and his son in law was hired as a mgr in charge of folks with 30 yrs exp despite his lack of operational experience. Those last 3 are gone already, time for the new corp CEO to clean house and get rid of the rest!
BPX is known for not hiring and promoting the right people. The nepotism is next level. Look at the last names of some of these managers and then do a google search. Notice the connections to the same sororities/ fraternities, etc. Many of these people are friends and family and they do not deserve to be in the roles they are in. This is leading to poor leadership, low morale, bad business decisions, a culture of gossip, and no way to move up in the company. The woke undertone is pretty bad too. The best people are not getting hired and promoted. I'm not white. These are just facts. Over the past year and a half, I have watched many good engineers, geologists, IT professionals, etc. leave the company. All of them that I know have said they are so much happier now. I talk with a lot of industry professionals that know and see BPX's reputation. Many of these "younger managers" have made a pretty bad name for themselves outside BPX and they do not even realize it. If you speak up you are retaliated against. The ones talking good about BPX on this discussion board are likely planted here to distort the truth and muddy the waters around reality. They are likely key individuals who are a part of the problem. DL had pictures going around with him and another woman. The former CFO/President was caught in an inappropriate relationship. He was escorted out by police. I saw it first-hand. Be careful working here and stay away if you can. I'm leaving first chance I get. It took me a while to see it all because I am usually a positive person and I stay out of the nonsense, but you can't help but see it when you stay here long enough. Its in your face.
DL should forfeit his stock options, etc. to payback the company for the frivolous Denver move.
DL hired former coworkers and family of coworkers. For instance DL hired someone with an agricultural engineering degree and no real oil field experience and placed them at an executive level position. Listening in on a conference call it was so easy to discern who actually had oil field experience and who were products of nepotism. DL was homesick and got the company to move him and bpx offices to his hometown.
Bp is woke! Just check out our (embarassing) IG.
All it takes is a quick historical refresher to understand why some at bp might look down on the NAG/L48/BPX business unit. BPX performs…..and many from bp who don’t understand what high individual contributor performance is or those who are happy to just do their bit and go home will never be happy at a high performance company no matter what the name is, BPX just happens to be the name today. If bp were to follow the BPX business model and cut the massive layers of corporate do nothing fat out of its structure, margins, dividends and real capital growth would return.
Ever since its’ creation L48/BPX has been plagued by the cronyism of DL et al and the hiring/promotion of both former coworkers and family of former coworkers at the expense of experienced longtime staff who were dismissed. Combine that with the illogical decision continue to operate Texas based assets out of the fancy new Denver office to save face after already closing the new remodeled office in Oklahoma City after less than three years and it’s easy to see where one might think priorities are misguided.
