The largest obstacle will probably be the PBMs. FTC is not really happy with their influence on dr-g pricing. Cigna has over 74000 employees which is not great for either company.

Reply to "FTC would likely shut it down, would cause huge market issues with these two giants merging to create the largest insurer in the US."

A merger would not create the largest insurer in the US. United holds that distinction. The FTC would likely allow a merger because Cigna does not have anywhere close to the Medicare business numbers of Humana and Humana does not have the commercial business that Cigna has.

People get a grip! Cigna/Humana would not be the largest insurance company in the county, that would still be United.Cigna =commercial and Humana =Medicare. It will pass the test as two halves make a whole. Bruce did not deny the issue why do you think he is leaving town ? Will we have RIF’S yes but it will be for duplication of services .

When the Aetna stuff was going on, that was announced prior to the SEC getting involved….I think that employees are going to know within a few minutes of the public knowing ….they still have to tally numbers from open enrollment, I look for the announcement 2nd quarter of next year, because based on numbers there are going to be RIFs on both sides

Well golly gee, it sure is convenient that Humana can say "no more commercial insurance, we only do medicare advantage now!" Almost like they were preparing for an antitrust case!

If they decide to go through with it, they’ll have to do a filing with the SEC. That will be the clincher and how we’ll know. It’s publicly available info.

It’s supposed to be announced by the end of the year is what some people are saying.

If you saw BB’s note, all he said to deny anything was “ if we were to ever enter into anything material we’ll share with you”. that’s not a denial it isn’t happening, that's vague corporate speak and if you read between the lines, I don’t think he’s denying it at all.

The fact that it's literally all over the news means that if they haven't sealed the deal by now, it would probably be squashed, right?

So if I have a offer letter from a position here. Should I be saying no to it ?

And it also makes sense that the RIF wasn’t offered to certain people that may be eligible because they may be in key positions. If the merger goes through, CS, HR, UM and CM are going to get destroyed

They can’t say anything due to stock market issues and potential insider trades

Good morning America this morning the deal with Cigna was reported by Robin Roberts.

Looks like he's even telling individual leaders to reach out about "rUmORs!" What a joke, man. Obviously they're talking about it, or he would've said they weren't.

What else could BB say? There are too many details being given out over the media for this to be unfounded. This merger would also explain why they’re bringing over a new CEO with Wall Street M&A experience.

I don’t trust a word upper leadership says. They talk out both sides of their mouths. None of what they say is for our benefit. Just themselves and large investors.

We’ll see what happens. Praying this deal gets scuttled.

You all heard BB say at the town hall today not to get caught up in rumors….

So do apply at Cigna now? 😆

If they merge they would still not be as big as United.

I'm curious .. where is BB lately? No weekly emails. No mentioning of early retirement offers, Cigna, nada.

I guess we should be super extra concerned about layoffs! I appreciate the transparency (not)

Yeah, it’s not a merger. It’s an acquisition. Cigna is buying Humana.

Oh it’s real. If approved July 1st then a combined company would be forming.

Would make sense to have all of these big layoffs right before a big purchase.
