So the books in the book club are business books, not pleasure reading. The employees buy the book and hopes that Fiserv pays them back. Last time the author was invited to the discussion. The business books would best be described as auto-fe-----o. Clearly the book club is just to feed JG's ego.

"Read the Room" refers to presenting books about 'how you should work really hard for no compensation' is a poor choice of a book to present to people who are being laid off. Maybe the next book he will present will be a book about how you should always decline severance. Maybe that will be a good book for Fiserv employees?
